regardless, whenever the cops bust a big fraud operation, its usually in the news...can't say i read about those too often.

Nothing is perfect as and it's not just the banks, as long as technology keeps evolving, so will tech crime. As for what happend to Luka, it was a major inconvenience, but he will get his money back and if he chooses not to use the ATM that is his choice not to use the machine then so be it.

your right, its not a perfect world. however, in order to strive for that we need to fix what is broken. by openly allowing criminals to do this and not punishing them is taking us further away from from being perfect.
its like you see no liability on the side of the bank? they hold our money; give us cards to access it; then when someone steals it using the card they supplied, we are inconvenienced.
sure they pay out, but thats not the point.
i wonder what would happen if i drove to brampton one night, took $1000 out of the machine. called them on it a few days later saying i didnt do that redemption. would they pay out? how in depth would their "behind the scenes activity" work if i covered my tracks (ie drove a different car, had my face covered, odd hours, etc).

^^no....i put it at ING.
the bank is my b!tch. i only keep the minimum amount to avoid paying fees and pay my bills free from there. everything else goes to ING.
ive had enough of the bank's service. apprantly, so have many other canadians.

A lot of this going around lately.
I don't carry my debt or CC with me unless I'm going to need them. I also try to stay away from the small non bank affilated ATMs you see in corner stores, bars/pubs, clubs, etc.

This happened to my sister-in-law 2 days before her Dad passed away. She used her debit card in a store somewhere I believe in Whitby and the next day her account was empty. It turns out that there were 2 separate transactions at the same SDM for $800 each. You would think that the clerk would notice something funny.

Her mortgage was due to come out of that account too.
Sorry for the double post. The mods can delete the first one if they wish.

it has nothing to do with what car you drive, what you wear, what time you go in. it has to do with your own bank card.
each card has its own encrypted code. and when duplicates are made the code no longer exists on that new duplicate card.
so unless you copy your own card and then go and do your little crime consider your *** BOOKED.
also there is a fraud investigations unit within the bank that takes care of this kind of situation. and who the **** or where the **** are you getting the information that someone who does this kind of crime isnt getting punished? your retarded. the punishment for this crime is fraud depending on how much you will be charged with identity theft etcc....
the bank and every other place that has evidence against another person LEGALLY is not allowed to give out the information to anyone BUT the police. its called PRIVACY ACT go read it somewhere. and if you dont like how our government is set up go and find a new place to live.
and yes they do pay us out. so how exactly are we being inconvenienced? because we dont get the money that we own for a while? who the **** cares. i much rather have my money back 1 year down the road then NEVER.
also ING is one of the easiest accounts to break into. since it can be withdrawn from any atm unlike other's.

Funny eh?

well you'll get your money back for sure...but that's ridiculous that although the ATM knows the card is fake...it still dispenses the money....how retarded is that

only internal investigations will know that after doing the investigation.

im sure they are getting punished LARGE. just look at all the stats...fraud seems to be going down....no wait, its not. its also the number #1 criminal concern for canadians.
PRIVACY ACT? is this the same act that allows the banks to sell my information so companies can call me at dinner asking to buy whatever **** they are pushing? real private.
who cares that we cannot get our money? your messed bro. its YOUR money, not theirs. you are missing the point that since they allow access to OUR own money, they should provide it in the most secure manner.
so which bank do you work for?
