GG, Much respect to you!

What is interesting is as well, one of the guys was 39 years old. Just goes to show you it's not just teenagers or early 20 something guys racing their cars on the street.

Nice of you to check on the people. Although I still don't know if its the best thing to help out the injured in the cars. I have always been told never to touch a victim in an accident in case you make things worse.

Saad, I didnt read this till now or else I would have said something to you at CSCS yesterday. You make me proud to know you, to talk to you, and to have you as part of this club. There are not many who are as brave as you and would risk themselves to help two strangers they dont know. There should be more like you. You will always be remembered by the couple as the one who saved them. Think, if you hadnt come as quick as you did maybe the fiance would have died, without removing that seatbelt that was confining his chest. Give yourself a HUGE pat on the back! Your a hero in my eyes!

he didn't remove them from the car... in fact he kept them in the car and stablized them here .. he removed a seat belt that was restricting a guy from breathing... personally with my knowledge of first aid (which is dated I will admit) he did the right thing. keep the people in the car and stablize.. that's correct in my books...

Again Well Done dude.

That's true, jsut stating that since I am not a medical doctor of any kind I would be reluctant to try anything unless it was of the obvious. People these days, sometimes you try to help then and next thing you know you've got a lawsuit on your ***.

Maybe, but such a law suit is extremely unlikely to succeed or even get past the filing stage. As long as you acted reasonably and not beyond your capabilities (you didn't try to administer drugs or perform complex surgery), you're protected from liability by the Good Samaritan Act of Ontario.

Good Samaritan Act, 2001

S.O. 2001, CHAPTER 2

Notice of Currency:* This document is up to date.

*This notice is usually current to within two business days of accessing this document. For more current amendment information, see the Table of Public Statutes (Legislative History).

No Amendments.

Definition

1. In this Act,

"health care professional" means a member of a College of a health profession set out in Schedule 1 to the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991. 2001, c. 2, s. 1.

Protection from liability

2. (1) Despite the rules of common law, a person described in subsection (2) who voluntarily and without reasonable expectation of compensation or reward provides the services described in that subsection is not liable for damages that result from the person's negligence in acting or failing to act while providing the services, unless it is established that the damages were caused by the gross negligence of the person. 2001, c. 2, s. 2 (1).

Persons covered

(2) Subsection (1) applies to,

(a) a health care professional who provides emergency health care services or first aid assistance to a person who is ill, injured or unconscious as a result of an accident or other emergency, if the health care professional does not provide the services or assistance at a hospital or other place having appropriate health care facilities and equipment for that purpose; and

(b) an individual, other than a health care professional described in clause (a), who provides emergency first aid assistance to a person who is ill, injured or unconscious as a result of an accident or other emergency, if the individual provides the assistance at the immediate scene of the accident or emergency. 2001, c. 2, s. 2 (2).

Reimbursement of expenses

(3) Reasonable reimbursement that a person receives for expenses that the person reasonably incurs in providing the services described in subsection (2) shall be deemed not to be compensation or reward for the purpose of subsection (1). 2001, c. 2, s. 2 (3).

3. Omitted (provides for coming into force of provisions of this Act). 2001, c. 2, s. 3.

4. Omitted (enacts short title of this Act). 2001, c. 2, s. 4.

I was told the same a very long time ago...but its common sense, I mean even the paramedics dont just rush in and pull you out, cuz they know that you may even die in that process. Ive heard of some cases were if the person was moved out of the car they would have died right away rather then being in the car...

But yea...I knew that he had a broken leg and he probably couldnt feel it...so I just did my best to keep in calm n inside the car, if there was fire then obviously I would have tried a different route...but Im just praying for them and I hope you all are.
