I think Canada is more Multinational instead of multicultural society. I think if we can't have an Christmas tree displayed then other religions can't have there 'stuff' displayed.

uh, last time i checked, christians don't worship the christmas tree nor has it anything to do with christianity. it just got associated with christianity somehow even though, i believe, it has pagan origins. like wtf man...haha...it doesnt even represent anything to christians. i think that's sooo funny! to me, it's just a friggin tree that's put through some horrible torture with all that tinsel and crap. and i'm Christian. jokes!

That's stupid really. Multi-culturalism BS is crap. All this I'm distinct, I'm different and I should get equal say has been the source of many many problems in this countries. It's one of the reason why Canada does not have a solid national identity, we keep referring to ourselves as different from the States.
Canada was founded as a white Christian based society. Anyone whose has to move here should at least understand that this is a different society than and they'll have to tolerate the norms and values here.

perhaps the judge was trying to be nice...or he was too sensitive. possibly because our system is based on separation of religion and state.
personally and on second thought, i dont see any harm in a tree being present in a courthouse or any public place (as shazza said...its a tree...not a religious symbol) but if i were asked to give some testimony by swearing on a bible...then its a different story. the christmas tree to me is a sign of festivity, holidays and good spirit more than anything else.
by the way....i recently bought a small little tree for my little one for her room...it has LEDs too
religion just divides people..sadly

It's been a long time since our court system made people swear on the bible before giving testimony.
Just curious, but what made you change your mind from the first post where you thought the judge did the right thing, to now where you dont' see any harm in it?
what i meant by 'we' is people that celebrate christmas with a tree with the traditions of people that founded this country (notice i said traditions not religions, non-christians and atheists also celebrate christmas with a tree)
Religious spokespeople from religions OTHER than christianity came out and said this was a dumb move, because if they do this, then what's next... think about it logically... soon they get rid of christmas... you can't call it christmas anymore, what's next... hannukah should have a new name too?
This country wouldn't be where it is today if it wasn't for the people that founded it, so why not continue on a tradition that involves a tree and shiny things? If you choose to believe in the Christian version of Christmas than by all means, if not noone is forcing you too, but to try to get rid of it incase some people get 'offended' by it is just one step closer to getting rid of ALL religions in our society.

Personally I don't care if a tree is up or not, I dislike the season.
I hate the shopping, I hate looking for places to put the crap that I'll never use, family dinners = family feuds, I never see my husband as he works retail....I could go on.
The only thing that is fun is watching the excitement in my son's face. Actually this year might be better, I think we are only doing presents for the kids.

This year I'm not putting a up a tree. Seems a little pointless when it's just me, my wife, and my 1yr old daughter. However I would like to get some LED christmas lights from CT to spice up the outside more than my regular outside light.
I hate the shopping also. buy buy buy. I couldn't believe how many pre-approved Credit Card apps I got in the mail three or four weeks ago.

I totally agree.
This is not our country and we should respect what was here before we were. If you want to partake in it that is.

To play Devil's advocate ( literally ) Can we embrace all religions and have a Satanism tree!
What the Judge did was right. For reasons too complicated to express here in such a short post.
I also believe the judge was a woman, stop refering to she as he!
