^I think they'll eventually phase out the old ones probably within the next few years so you don't have to wait that long.

thinking about "losing" my license to get one of the new ones they soo cool...making it harder for other ppl to copy them. Guess it'll help a bit

That depends. Are you born here or not. If not, you should had it right after you were sworn in as Canadian citizen.

hasnt been confirmed yet, govt needs to make decision to put passport info on the driver license card when they swipe it at the border. Its still in talk but nothing confirmed yet

Have you ever seen one of these cards? I own one, well a landed immigrant card and they are certainly not that cheap. All the holigrams on it, the braille and all the information that is incoded all over it relating to all your personal information. I would think that it would be harder to copy than just thick paper, putting a picture on it and laminating it.

For the landed immigrant card, I have to use my british passport to get into the states or anywhere else in the world... But if i come back into Canada then I have to use the card...
