Yeah SiR's are I think in the top 3 of cars that are stolen on insurance lists.....that and the integra type R, I forget the third...... I said S2000 but like DumbasSi said, between the two go for the prelude...... man ur stressing over a 1.6 liter and a 2.2, to keep up with the prelude u'll be screaming in vtec in the SiR anyway thus burning more gas lol ...... but of course normal driving u'll notice it but i mean they're both still good on gas....obviously the civic is better, but not by enough to stop you from going with the prelude......

plus 20 min gas everyday isn't gonna kill u lol...... and parts are readily available, you need not worry....

I'd get the prelude...

I was looking at them a while ago, seemed finding a late model one in a standard was a little harder however...but possible

most I found for sale had that horrible tip-tronic shift thing...maybe I was looking in the wrong places? (TCC forums, autotrader, craigslist)...although I really wasn't looking that hard/long, you might be right

Thanks guys..yah I am looking for used in the 6K Range..dont wanna spend too much because I really wanna get a S2K next year and this car will just become my winter car. The S2K is by far my fav car and I was supposed to buy one b4 the Benz but I decided to make my wife happy and not me. My first plan was to buy a 2001 IS300 for her and a S2K for myself 2 cars for around 40K..but she feel in love with the benz so I spend 60+ on 1 car and put the S2K on hold.

I've been looking for Preludes and I've seen a couple nice ones but the were all Auto..the 5spds are definatly harder to find.

Between your two choices I'd go with the Prelude. The SiR is one of the most stolen cars, and it looks no different than a regular EK. The Prelude, at least, looks sportier.

Ya, S2K are pretty nice...if your looking for one (not now), I'd seriously consider looking in the US, I don't know how it will be in a year or two, but right now seems you can pick up an 02-03 for around 15-18K, which I believe is somewhat cheaper then around here (even factoring conversion - dollar isn't quite at par, actually down a bit today, and government taxes/fees)...

What Benz did you buy? C class?

the car itself has almost nothing to do with the amount you get charged insurance...

It's all about what the average person who drives that type of car does, and what they do (regarding liability, theft is different)...maybe the average person who owns a $60k MB drives very safely??...

It's all statistics, nothing more...

I'm confused if you have a 08 Mercedes, paying only $100 a month for insurance, and live 10 mins from home, you can't afford to drive the Mercedes? LOL

I know gas prices are high, but they have come down. Either way man, you should not be complaining about gas mileage when you won't be driving half as much as most people on here.

Now if you're looking for something to trash around DD then go with a S2000 or something.

European cars are not expensive to ensure!

*not every insurance company bases its rates on how new or old the car is!
they all have their own measuring standards.

*This is why you shop around for rates, if you are around the 25 age, you could possible insure a Mercedes C-class for under $200 easily depending on your record.

I am not doing anything my 98 Civic was 130/Month and it dropped to 100/month for the Benz and the Benz is worth 60K more.. I know its retarded but I dont make the rules trust me I know.

Its not that I cant afford to drive the Benz but there is no point to drive it 10 min just to park it all day..I rather leave it stored so when I get home and want to take it to the gym its all clean and ready to go. I love having project cars to play with and I want a S2K but I am saving that for next year as I am in the process of buying my first investment property.

I actually should have bought another property before the Benz but I never had a new car before so my wife and I wanted to spoil ourselves for once.

I'm 28 but I have had insurance since I was 16 if that makes a diff.

I had a 2000 Accord coupe all done up and I was paying like 110/Month and when I sold it for like 15K and bought my 98 Civic for like 5K I could'nt belive that my insurance went up on a car that was worth alot less. I was yelling at the Insurance company telling them thats retarded, they said it was because the Civic gets stolen alot and I flipped out. 2 weeks later the Civic got stolen and that shut me up and I no longer ask questions...LOL
