Nice day = Car cleaning, WOW was it dirty

Can't believe how dirty my car was until I got down and started cleaning. Salt and grit all under the mats and my carpet was soaked even though I do the newspaper trick. I'm glad we get these nice days here and their so I can put some love back into my ride.

Not really a trick, my pop told me about it so I guess it's an "old guy" thing. In the winter you put newspaper under your mats and they suck up all the excess water so your carpet doesn't get wet and stinky. Mine was still wet so I guess I just have to check it more regularly.

I've changed it a couple times this winter and never noticed a smudge, that was my question to my pop and he said it was never a problem.

Almost a year later, another nice day and I gave my car some more love. Spent the morning at the garage, oil change, wash, wax, vacuum and all around wipe down. Love these warmer days for a nice break to refresh the ride!

I dont know about that newspaper trick. I have pulled out wet newspaper outta trucks before, and they did ink marks.
But iam sure you can do it with just some paper towel.

Yeah, we use to do that years ago in Montreal. If you don't change the paper frequently, you are picking up pieces of wet newspaper all day. I got some mats for my bday and they are the best. It has an inner tray in it and deep grooves. the water never gets to the mats at all! The best mats I have ever put in a vehicle imo. I think they sell them at CT

My old rubber mat had a hole in it from 4 years of use. Then water got through it, wet the carpet and so on.

I like to keep the floor dry, so a rubber mat is very important.

Can you remove part of the mat to expose the tray beneath it?
