Nicoderm
Ok all the smokers out here I've been trying to cut back and/or quit for the past like 8 months to a year. But I found if I was around smokers I was bumming ciggies, and that's not cool, so I always had a pack on me at all times, and when I have a pack, I smoke it... I used to smoke 2 packs a day last summer, then I cut it to 6-15 a day depending on the day. Weekends when I'm out, a pack easily... so finally, I decided that's ENOUGH!! I couldn't take the taste, the smell, and $7/pack was hurtin too... so I decided the Nicoderm patch step 2 was the way to go. Step 1 is too hardcore cuz I don't think I smoked a pack cuz I needed the nicotine, it was more the entertainment value.... so 14 mg/day should be enough. The patches are about $30 at Walmart for 7 patches, it's a 8-10 week program (so about $300), and that should make you quit. I have the first patch on, it's almost time to change it, and it's working awesome!!! I had 2 smokes all day yesterday cuz I was out having a drink... and I had one in the morning before I put the patch on as a final goodbye to cigarettes. I miss the morning smoke soooo much, but it has to be done. Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to let you know the patch works really well... there are no cravings at all, unless you are in the situation that you associate with smoking, like morning coffee or evening drink. I miss it sooo much already, but I think after 10 weeks of the patch, I should be ready to kick it completely! So whoever wants to quit, there is hope

Haha, thanks for the well wishes....
Well, I found I have little willpower when it comes to smokes... I enjoy it too much, and at the time I see no reason to quit. But when I step back and take a look around, I see it's counterproductive.
Jon, why not just keep going with the program... one night of smoking isn't gonna ruin it all.
diesel, ya, my dad was a 3 pack a day smoker for as long as I've known him, and about 10-12 years ago, he just quit... like instantly, no patch, no going back... just quit!! It was sooo wierd, but now I can't ever imagine him smoking. I don't think I'm addicted, but the highs and lows of nicotine in your body make it hard when combined with the settings I'm in. So the patch takes care of one aspect, my bit of will power takes care of the settings I'm in, and I'm in the clear...

ok, i did it with ZYBAN haha its a drug u get perscribed. its good cause it dosent add nic into ur system. worked for me up untill a night of drinking but i am not smoking again. advice. when quiting dont drink ull go back soooo fast. n e ways zyban worked for me and i am covered by my dads medical plan so it cost me nothing. alot cheaper than 300 bones of patches. also it only cost about 150 for 2 months worth of perscription.

How ever there are times when I still enjoy a good strong smoke. I still smoke whenever I drink, go to the casino, hang round smokers. The only reason I quit was for the money and because it is unfair for my g/f to put up with all the crap that comes with smoking.
I would say I only spend $6 a month on smokes and that's pushing it, yes I ask people for smokes and usually I pay my friend for some of his.
Now everytime I smoke I know that's it's because I enjoy it and not that I need it.

Legacy73, that's kinda what I'd like to do, but unfortunately that's how I started... I really enjoyed it socially, and in certain settings, next thing I know, I'm outside the Dana Porter library at U of Waterloo freezing my *** off by myself having a ciggie... I didn't enjoy that, I was friggin addicted. To be honest, I think I can make do with just one pack of patches, cuz last night I didn't have the patch on for 4-5 hours, then I went to bed, and I just put one on now to keep me from smoking.... I think the patch is a mental (placebo) aid too.... cuz they tell you in the booklet to NOT SMOKE, even though if you do it doesn't really do anything to you (ooopps, I tried it ). It's a pretty powerful little patch... helps sooo much, but I think a week of not smoking, I may be able to forget it altogether. Ohhhh the money is going straight into new injectors
