Office "Politics"

How do you deal with it...today i almost **** a brick on everyone!!!!

So a co-worker keeps telling people higher up then me when i'm making minor mistakes that can be easily corrected if she just took the time to come up to me for .5secs and i'd have the mistake corrected in like 1min if that. I don't make many mistakes but sometimes it's hard not too, because of what customers write or how they write on sheets.

Anyway, today she tells on me again....i overhear a bit of it, w/e fine right?....it's all good . . .

Then i'm sitting at my desk just writing some stuff down and what not and i overhear her talking about how oh "~ILLEST CIV~" this and that , it's one thing if u tell like someone higher up but when ur telling ppl i work with on a daily basis and interact with i'm gonna **** bricks..lol

So i walk up to my supervisor because she was speaking to him too, and i was like, you know what, if ppl have a problem with my work or the way i work tell them to come to me first. I didn't leave high school and college to come to a preschool and i walked away.

anyway 30mins later that girl comes up to me and sits down on my desk and goes you know i really apologize for not comming up to you first for this one thing....if you ever have any questions come and talk to me....?

so i'm thinkin my supervisor guy told her..lol

But yah how do you guys deal with ****** *** ppl who are stuck in high school and that whole telling and wanting to look better thing?

We talk about our sex lives and sports in our office. Then we go outback and have 2 on 2 football games. Great times......

But then I also do alot of work. Today we mostly talked about "the gorilla mask". Which is a sex move/play. I'll explain now because I know people are going to ask, so here it is....

I found it very funny and very gross at the same time, LOL

Definitely!

Only go to your boss if enough is enough, and the co-worker won't stop the childish games, even after you've told them to stop their ridiculous behaviour (in a tactful manner, of course).

lol i guess what i did could be considered "crying to my boss"

but i really didn't name any names....what i said in my original post is what i said to him

If anyone has a problem with me tell them to come to me first to see if hte problem can be corrected, i didn't leave high school or college to come to a pre school.

i guess it's me complaining....but meh....yes i shall take them aside in the future and speak with them.

If I'm reading u right... you approached the person causing trouble and spoke with this person in front of your supervisor? 'Two birds with one stone', as it were--you weren't going behind your co-worker's back, and you were making your superior aware of the situation.

I can see how talking to the co-worker first is the best idea, but sometimes u act on the spur of the moment, or when the opportunity presents itself. It doesn't sound all that bad, really. Especially in light of the fact that, from your first post (hope I'm getting this right...), she's the original tattle-tale...

I agree with you, ridiculous back-handed antics are for the high-school kosmos, not the adult work world.

Rule for office politics - don't create enemies. You have to be as smooth as a beach ball (not a golf ball) and befriends with everyone, even the ones you do not like.

This won't be your last job, but consider most of us spend 8 hours a day at work, you would be surprised that you actually spend time and see your colleagues more than your family and wife. So have lunch with her, talk about other thing, make a joke, anything to ease the situation and the tention. Even apologize first and make her look like the bigger person.

Applause, Nova_Dust!

Very succinct, concise and logical. I commend you on your grasp of human relations, especially in the work environment. We've probably all been in similar situations, and you're right...making nice with your playmates, even the nasties, is generally the best medicine. My compliments!

Thanks

If your working relationship is dejected, then you are miserable for 1/3 of your life time.

People say they don't care about work, their colleagues, their boss, but deep down, they seek acknowledgement and comfort.

if you are good, you will succeed. we have a ***** at work here who's tried to get me into trouble and talks behind my back because i overhauled a bunch of her stupid processes which were incorrent and illegal (due to pipeda - people here were clueless)

i have made it very clear to management how i feel about her. i've compared her ability to think clearly with that of the average rock, and i crack jokes at her expense in front of her staff, in front of her. I also told my boss I would quit if I was working with her often, as I prefer to work, not play games and be lied to.

i am respected at the office

she is not.

make yourself indispensible to the company, and destory anyone who gets in your way.

i'm pretty relaxed, but i've found at every office, there is one of these idiots... usually nobody likes them.
