This is a good move to avoid your problem with the video card. BUT, also try and avoid integrated sound cards. Or else if you buy a soundcard someday you'll have the same problems as with the Video card (not as big a deal, because on board sound can be disabled, but it eats up resources as well).. I say pick up something with nothing intergrated, use your nice new video card and buy a CHEAP sound card for now no matter how crappy just to avoid on board sound.. If you need some more advice feel free to email me or PM me..
Oh, also VIA has the reputation of not being the best chipset maker, I've had my share of troubles with them.

I gotta a major problem here. I bought my comp in October and it's all warrantied till at leasst next October. Anyways, I bought this comp from PC Village, and have nothing but problems with them. At first they didn't ahve the mouse I wanted so i waited almost 2 months before going in there and causing a huge scene. Finally they gave me a refund for the cost of the mouse. Then my speakers were fucked. Altec Lansing 54, the 4 peice speaker plus subwoofer. They were blown. They took them and said they sent them for repair or replacement (whichever was possible). Got them back and still sound like ****.
I was in another store and the sales guy told me that the speakers I got from them in the first place (same ones I have now) were refurbished because they were sold to me in like a brown regular box with the altec logo. he said all those speakers sold new should be in the nice fancy box. It sounds as though i've been fucked over.
Now I looked today and the video card I have which is supposed to have TV out, is the cheaper model and is only prepared architecturally for it, and doesn't have the actual S-Video, and RCA jacks on the back. I specifically paid for a TV out card. Hence I plug it into a TV!!!
I couldn't get a hold of anyone there this evening. I'm going to call tommorrow. Problem is though, i just noticed this video card bullshit now, and have been to busy to go there to throw my speakers at them as well. If they parts and stuff are guaranteed for a year at least, should I be concerned? Also, i still have my original paperwork with all the parts listed and stuff.
WHAT SHOULD I DO? WHAT IF THEY DON"T CO-OPERATE AS USUAL?
PS: Never deal with PC Village, they are a bunch of crooked ******** who don't back up waht they say and don't care about repeat business!
