I can't help but think that I would feel like a failure if I had left home and then came back. In a way, when you leave and your young there is this little part of you that's like "fu<k yo couch ******" I'm independent now!! Then a few months later your back, like a fool tool. Smart parents will put your *** to work STAT. Glad your home... why aren't you cutting the grass yet?

Im not advocating moody teens who move out because of spite, to just move back in whenever they want - I agree with you there, if you think you can do it on your own - go!
But that being said, I think someone who moves out of their parents house because it's just the right time to leave, can move back in for a season, for whatever reason, without being labeled as a "failure"
(I also think its different for guys and girls...girls are more attached to family than guys in my opinion)

I dunno if you have kids or not, but if one day you do, wouldn't you want them to know that if worst comes to worst they could always come stay with you again until they could get back onto their feet?

I would let my kids come back home if the situation was legit. I would make it very clear from the top, they are welcomed. Back to this failure thing, I had said that I would feel like one. I don't label people who do that failures, nor would I judge someone for doing it. I simply would feel like a failure if my intent was to be gone for good, and then be forced to go back home for whatever reason.

I have a bed and stuff still at my fathers place but I prolly sleep in my car more often then I do my own bed. typical night for me involves parking the car gettin polluted. crashing at a friends house and waking up in time to stagger back to work.
