PayPal Advice: Please Read!

Hey guys, I just got my credit card a few days ago and I want to get paypal big time so I can buy on ebay.
Im just wondering who has it and do you feel safe with it?
Have you ever lost money from it or anything?
Also, how do you have it set up to pay for things? does it come out of your bank account or right from your card?

Any info would be great!

- Jay

Ive had no problems, made many large value purchases... but ive been hearing allot of scams lately... im almost turned off it cuz of the horor stories ive heard.. Ihavent used it in about 6 months, just cuz of no use for it... But damn is it ever handy, the billing process is so simple... convinience wise its awsome... But the level of protection worries me.

comes off your credit card... what u do is submit your info, then wait for your next credit card bill.. on the statement will be a one doller purchace made buy paypal beside it will be an activation code to put into your paypal account to activate the account... so it takes a month to get started using it, unless you have online credit card statements to retrive the number the next day.

if you're mainly using it on eBay make sure the seller accepts PayPal thru CC cuz PayPal is gay now regular users (NON-premium/business accounts) can't accept paypal using CC

i'm not that worried about the scams and what not cuz i feel a lil better it coming out of my CC than my bank account. at least it MIGHT be easier to recover my monies if i'm ever scammed

I've also bought many things from Ebay using Paypal and have never had a problem.

As goes with any purchase on Ebay, make sure the seller has lots of positive feedback before buying.

I use it all the times too! A great way to send/receive payment! But I have also heard a lot of terrible stories about it! Use it with caution and care ^^

Paypal is good. Nice and easy!! I use it fairly often, mostly to pay, but I have gotten a couple payments.

And definitely use your credit card in conjunction with Paypal... CC offers more protection since pulling money straight from your bank account offers zero protection against fraud.

I actually used to sell alot off of eaby, Paypal is the only way to go.

If your worried always make as much of a paper trail as possible.. even take pics if nessessary.

Spikylee is right cc offers more protection when it comes to paypal. Some cc I think american express can have fraud protection.

good luck

If I am not mistaken, Ebay owns paypal so the level of service and follow up should be quite good. I'm sure there are exceptions with everything. I personally haven't used it yet but my dad swears by it, but as stated in earlier posts always check the seller feedback...

just sold something today and the buyer paid via paypal...there is nothin better than recieving the cash right away like that...no hassles with cheques etc.

I have also sold items to people on this site and they used paypal and there have been no problems

I didnt have time to read the whole thread, but I have a suggestion for you, buy wisely, dont bid on stuff you are not buying for sure, check people's feedbacks, buy from people who actually specialize in selling that certain item.

thats all, 1000+ feedbacks on ebay, so take it from me.

Ebay bought them out once they started to hit the big time! Probably all the big wigs use $100 bills to wipe their butts or light cigars.

just a quick question:

Has anyone received an email from ebay asking for verification of identity by asking a whole bunch of sensitive info (mother's maiden name, bank info, online bank info, and SIN #) they also asked for CC info but that i figured is needed but the others????

so i said f-it i aint given out my bank info and SIN!!!

just wondering if anyone else got this email

ebay is suppose to have your personal info, they have mine atleast, i dont' remember what kinda questions they asked however, but i dont' think it was thru email, it was thru the registration process.
as for paypal, they have my CC and bank account info, i don't remember if they asked for SIN though, they're NOT suppose to ask you personal info thru email, only during the registration process.

as for someone above saying MO costs an arm and leg, it's actually cheaper than paypal, it's only 2% for postal money order whereas it's 4% to withdraw funds from paypal, it's free if u leave it in there but it's riskier.

i've never had a problem with paypal or ebay and i use them both on a regular basis
