Pick a laptop

I have a Compaq which is irrelevant to the topic, but it’s a widescreen and they make so much of a difference. Honestly, I would never buy anything but a widescreen again. Well worth the extra money.
Why not look into getting a Toshiba or HP/Compaq now the same thing. If you have the time for shopping around, Best Buy puts them on sale quite frequently. Might be worth looking into.
I have heard ups and downs to Dells. I guess its really how you treat it. My girlfriend has a Dell and she loves it, 2 ½ years and nothing wrong yet. The only thing I don’t like is all the stupid software it comes with.
Anyway, both are good choices, but like I said, I favour the widescreen.
Im sure you'll enjoy whichever one you buy.
Ciao

Only real difference I spot is the video card and the dell has the wide screen.

IBM > *
we always use IBM at work and we go through thousands of them
T43P's are getting phased out so we got loaners from 15 different companies and did 6 weeks of some serious benchmarking and testing
guess what?
IBM T60 destroyed them all.
*EDIT* please note that i said T60 and not R60

btw, the video card that comes with the R60 is better than the one that comes with the dell.
Listed Worst to best in Mid Range Video Cards
Nvidia GeForce Go6400 (Not the one that comes with the dell)
ATI Mobility Radeon X600
Nvidia GeForce Go7400 (Not the one that comes with the dell)
ATI Mobility Radeon X1400
The quadro series (Nvidia that comes with the dell option) are designed for rendering and business applications, not for games. And the x1400 runs better than the go7400 and for games the quadro series does not compare to either for games. But all are fine for business applications. I guess these are going to be used for school stuff but I will be adding a few games and sounds like others will be to. lol.
