Speech Topic B|adeX
Hmmm…….what shall I talk about? What would be interesting, computers?
Nah…cars? Hmm nah technology? Yes technology. Honorable judges’ teachers and
fellow students as you may have guess or may not have, my speech today is going to be
about technology! Hah wrong, my topic is on public speaking in general.
Well I am going to help you find a good speech topic first. Find something that
you have interest in. I mean you are going to work and research about it for at least a
good amount of time. Why would someone want to research on something that they hate,
I mean if I hate pigs why would I research on them. Why would you like animals that roll
around in mud, go “oink oink” and smell amazingly horrible? Whoops lets get back on
topic here, speaking of topic lets find one for you. Find something that you like, if you
love pigs, sure do it on pigs. If you are good at something talk about that. Let the topic be
on something you already know a lot about, would be good also means less work for you
and more sleep. Instead of thinking endless for hours, choose something that you think
your audience would like. Ask opinions from classmates for good topics, and suggest
ideas to them and ask if they are good Try not to talk about too serious topics.
Once you have your topic, let’s get researching. Get facts and also have your own
opinion in your speech somewhere, we don’t want to have another published book. When
writing your speech, try to make it interesting, and not boring, we don’t want to
embarrass anyone when they snore while they sleep. Adding some humor in it wouldn’t
be bad. Have a brain grabbing (not literally) introduction. Make it grab people’s attention
when you start. Having good entrance and ending is a big part of the speech. If you have
a bad start, no one would want to listen to you later on.
But not only does your topic have to be interesting so do you! If your hair is all
messed up, toilet paper stuck on your shoes, socks pulled up around your pants, belt
unbuckled like you came out of the washroom after some unfinished business you’ll get
some laughs there. No what I meant to say is have a good picture, if you start making funny gestures and hope for the audience to laugh but instead get the embarrassing
moments of your life then you lose people’s attention. When you are up there to do your
speech be confident and proud. Don’t put your hands in your pocket and start talking to
the wall. Look around at your audience, have your speech memberized as much as you
can so you can look at the audience instead of cue cards. Don’t make any funny faces
when not needed, remember it is not a comedy act. If you’re going to do your speech on
Cancer, it wouldn’t be cool to have a huge smile, while talking. Use hand gestures when
it is necessary, when doing a topic on picking your nose don’t it before the speech but
while the speech is going on! If you have confident you won’t be nervous which won’t
cause you to mess up, look at the audience even if they are scary looking and may scare
you but try and hold it in! If you have your speech all remeberized in your head, than you wouldn’t go hmmm hmmm like you don’t know what you’re talking about.
I hope I helped you, or taught you more about public speaking. They can’t be that
bad, I am doing one right now aren’t I? Or am I missing out on something?! Well hope
you had a great time, and have a good night!
Done, but I think I need more any thing to add

blade, I just checked your profile.. you are just a kid!!! LoL

I skimmed thru it, my only suggestion would be to speak about yourself and your own experiences. using your current tense, it makes it seem like you are delivering a lecture rather than a speech. the key to pulling this off is to not talk TO your audience, but to INVOLVE them in your experiences by telling them about your first speech. otherwise it makes you seem arrogant, you know what I mean? basically you are telling the audience 'you dont know how to write a speech, only I do and I am the best' and you dont want to do that. of course it IS the message you want to plant subconsciously, so you can't say it bluntly and critical.. you have to 'trick' the audience. you do this by being self-critical

I'll describe my introduction for you. I was wearing black pants, white dress shirt and running shoes. pocket protector and THICK glasses. total geek stylse. I come on stage holding a tick stack of cue cards and began reading right off of them. something like 'good afternoon esteemed peers and honourable (next card) judges, my speech today will be about (next card) the effects of nuclear fallout on bullfrogs off the coast of vietnam after WW2'. speaking in a completely monotonous and uncofident voice I began talking crap for a few seconds.. then tossed the cards away, threw the glassses and pocket protector into the crowd and said 'ahhh forget this!'. then continued my REAL speech, confident voice and positive body language without cue-cards so it seemed like I ad-libbed the entire thing.

a few words of advice: remember when communicating a message only 7% is in your words.. the rest lies within your tonality, facial expressions, body lang etc. also, rehearse it AT LEAST ONCE in front of the mirror, then AGAIN in front of your parents. you wont need cue cards anymore. hope this helps
