Police
Of course it might vary in different cities, but what do you think?
Are there too many police on the streets? /not enough?
You are paying for them, so I think it is fair that as consumers of their service, we can evaluate them.

I think we need more police.
but i think we should have real police after real crime.
not stupid bull****.
we need cops going after those who harm and steal.
not those who endanger themselves without putting anyone else in any real danger.
we also need police to police th epolice. more checks and balances, and it should be 100% legal to videotape police all the time while they are on duty.
they should not swear, smoke, or act unprofessional in anyway while on duty. they should have to do drug tests.
we have given them the right to bear arms and made their word more valuable than that of a citizen in court, thus, they should also be willing to give up certain privacies and expect that their actions will be reviewed and made public.
also, i'd like to see police siren logs so that excessive and frivelous use leads to disciplinary action.
suspended with pay also has to go.

I tend to agree with Bruce on this one, we do need more cops, but we also need a better run police force.
These people should set the example of how to act when on duty. Extremely professional.

Wow Bruce very well put, I think out of the majority of things cops should not swear on duty its just unprofessional. The drug test idea is an extremely good idea, and who knows maybe even an evaluation ever now and then by an independent company without the officers knowledge. Offending officers get away with all to much, usually just a slap on the wrist or having to appologize publicly. I would like to see the bad cops charged or arrested for the stuff some of them have done.

haha. what is the world coming to? majority agrees with me?
i think corrupt cops should be made examples of and not protected in jail.
cops should also be fined for bad judgement. like giving a speeding ticket for 1 km over.

But I would have to actually agree.

we totally need more police. there is not enough presence in the streets of toronto...
in new york there are pretty much cops on every block and their blocks are tiny! believe it or not, there is actually more crime here in toronto than in new york. im talking crime in general and not murders (with the exeption of murder rate- higher in new york)
juliani turned things around for new york and toronto needs to do the same. those who blame everything on cops got it all wrong...you need to make it an issue with politicians at the municpal and provincial level.
mcguinty is an idiot. mayor miller is an idiot. they both have no idea what to do when it comes to law and order in toronto.

I like Fantino. I know a piggie who hated him cause he was a hardass. haha
1skycoupe, they should have thought of that before they broke the law. We all have to deal with the consequences of our actions, no? jail is to protect us from them, not to protect them....
Gallagher, cops are dressed in their colours all the time already...
my friend's dad used to manage some bars.. the cops wanted him to have an afterhours bar open for cops.. he told them to **** off cause once you do that, you can't get out... it's like making a deal with the devil.

suspension with pay is a union issue and wont be changed.
what I find amusing is the people who sit there and say "i hate cops they are all corrupt...blah blah blah, then turn around and in the next post cry about how they are being lumped into street racers because they drive a civic. pretty ironic...dont ya think?
