I can always buy a 348 , drive it for 1-2 years and then sell it for the same money (or close to it)..... if I dont accumulate lotsa mileage....

Remember, when you get married ,buy a house and have a family, there wont be any money left for a sweet car ! (unless you wanna wait till retirement ages)....
So might as well have some fun now, get a sweet car, then when thet time comes, sell it....

Porshe gets my vote...

anyways as for living at home or moving out .... living at home right now myself. I will be moving out once I have the down payment for a house .... with 4 bedrooms that I can rent out....

why? because I don't want to rent and second because I can't stand the generation gap.... it sucks so I'm moving out but i don't want to rent ...

so I ain't ever going to buy either car...

Rob, so you think once you have a family, you will lose most, if not, all of your entertainment values so you want to enjoy now while you can? But why don’t you work towards that 60k or even 100k annual salary and have both? I find your train of thought seems rather depressing most of the time.

If you can make enough, and manage your money well, you can almost retire at 45 to 50. And you got the rest of your life to have fun, travel the world, drive nice cars, enjoy the food and what not. I see a grown up man driving a nice car and to me, that is a sign of success. A sign of someone who worked hard in his early age and now is the time to harvest that and enjoy it.

Young kids who are born rich and driving nice wheels around the town ain’t their fault. It is just their family can afford a more materialistic life then some of us and in reality, it is ok to buy what you want within your limit of power. It is just the young kids who get things so easily won’t really appreciate how hard it is to earn money in the real world. If your first car is a BMW, I don’t think you would settle for a Civic as your 2nd car. You already set the standard high and it is hard to move down the ladder unless something dramatic happened i.e. family business went south and you are force to sell everything and live a normal life for the very first time.

Would you feel better about yourself once you own the exotic car? When you drive around the town, would it give you more self esteem and power over other people who drive a domestic and whatnot? Would it make you feel on the same social level as other exotic car owners? I am just curious.

Maybe I think that way because I am not born rich and I need to work my way up. I have a lot of respect for people who start from scratch and ended up doing well in life. Please don’t get me wrong, I ain’t telling you how to live your life. It is just your story got me thinking a little there.
