Q's on Burning Home Video to VCD

I have heard Slvr-Bullet doing it before...

Now I would like to ask all of you...

What kind of stuff are required to transfer my home video (in Digital & Hi8 format) to my PC then burn/convert them into VCD...

1. IEEE 1394 cable and Card?
2. Which software do I need for (Copy, Editing, Background Music)?
3. Will PII450 with 30GB HDD and 524MB RAM do the trick?
4. Which CD Burning works the best for burning VCD(I use Nero 5.5 now, but it takes forever to burn a small Best Motoring Clip to VCD)?

Any other HW/SW is required? Thanks and look forward to hear from you!

regards,
Mugen C

I'll give you my Hi8 setup:

1. IEEE 1394 cable and Card? ATI AIW 8500DV (has firewire and analog inputs/outputs)

2. Which software do I need for (Copy, Editing, Background Music)? I use windows movie maker version 2, it crashes a lot, but it does the job well, you gotta save often. Adobe Premiere is a better option but it has a higher learning curve.

3. Will PII450 with 30GB HDD and 524MB RAM do the trick?
You should be alright, might take a little more time to finalize the video though. The processor is a little slow though.

4. Which CD Burning works the best for burning VCD(I use Nero 5.5 now, but it takes forever to burn a small Best Motoring Clip to VCD)? VcdEasy is my pick for burning software, I've used Nero before didnt work for me.

I'm using Windows XP home and professional, it crashes quite often with both of them. As for W2K I dont have it installed but I assume itd still be pretty buggy with it. It's a 20mb d/l so its not too bad.
