Well Brian, why would they?? They need to line the pockets of the Liberal friendlies too. I'm sure that costs alot.

BTW, Brian how did this couple hundred dollar a month increase in living expenses affect you?? And both you and I had significant car repairs this year.

Yep, you know my situation, and this is before the increases lately. Had to pull kids out of daycare back in April, inlaws are watching them (btw, they are doing this for free), we have had to cut back on a variety of things and pretty much re-align our cost of living. My two vehicles are my Civic and a Pontiac Montana. I now drive my wife into work and leave the van with my inlaws, so they have an extra vehicle to take care of the kids.

Let just say, buying new clothes is pretty much a luxury. Anything extra that we buy or do is mainly for the kids. Even doing the car shows with TCC puts a strain on the budget, and I have only been to two shows for the year.

Not much at the end of the day Michelle, and I know we have had this discussion many many times.

That is why we can't stress enough to you guys, if don't have to leave home right away, STAY!!

Amen you two, I also feel the pain. I now take care of my kids at home, work during the weekend, and my wife works full time as well. Lucky that we have a tenant or there would be no food on the table!

I hear ya bev. At one point, when my wife was having health issues and no job, I was working three jobs to a certain extent just to keep up and pay the bills. Eventually we had to sell our house and get a smaller house and more managable mortgage. Our savings and RRSP's took a major blow because of it, but we are still here surviving.

I quit my second job in January, but I was doing it for about 3 years.

Some things you can plan for, some you can't.

Agreed, I was thinking of downsizing our house as we would stand to make a substancial gain if we sell our current home in this market, and purchase a good sized home in the relatively same area, and keep a nice, livable, sub 100,000 mortgage.

I'll take your comments with a grain of salt because I'm assuming your Mommy and Daddy pay for the mortgage, taxes, heat, hydro, cable, phone so you can be warm at night and have the amenities to live comfortably. They probably feed you too.

Let me break it down for you and you tell me how I'm bad with money:

Mortgage, property taxes, condo fees: $1,500
Heat and Hydro (electric heat): ~$250
Phone: $50
Cable: $119 (includes internet) If I didn't have internet you wouldn't have TCC.
Grocery (three people, I support a 7 year old): $500

This is all before insurance, carpayments, gas to drive to work, school fees, after school activities, ect. $2,419.

Just to let you know Income tax example a family grossing (before taxes) $42,000/year, $3,500/month actually only brings home $2,158. They are considered middle-class. Lucky for me my family makes more than that. But when you finish University, you'll be lucky to make that much. When living on your own you tell me how an increase in living expenses affect you. BTW, hydro is going up too and property taxes. And don't forget you are also taxed on everything you buy.
Good stuff...I dont even live with my parents. I've got bills of my own. I got loans and coming out of my ***. I dont have ****ing kids but should I feel sorry for you? Please.

Oh btw...I love how you assume someone living with their parents has no sense of responsiblity and is oblivious to the real world...

Please, I don't need anyone's pity !!!

I am paying for the choices I made in life, no problem. I'm just sick of paying so much tax to support the choices others made.

You are right, I fully believe that the majority of people who live at home are oblivious to the real world...never said everyone.

Responsibility has nothing to do with it.

I love how you are preaching to me like I'm the leader of the pity party!! Far from it. I can take care of myself, just think it is ridiculous that the government expects me to pay so they can take care of others.

Whats good for the goose, is good for the gander. Nothing is free for me, so it shouldn't be free for you. Nothing is fair and equal in Canada, and thats why you won't see me living here within the next 5 years. I WILL DROP MY CANADIAN CITIZENSHIP IN A HEARTBEAT. Opportunity takes me and my family elsewhere because I was smart enough to take action when I saw what was coming.

What people are you taking care of? Is is people on disability? is it people on welfare? I'm confused. These types of things were creating assuming people wouldn't abuse it. I dont agree with people "living off the system" they are leeches, sure..whatever.

Whats FREE? We ALLLLLLL pay taxes...its not just you. Some people pay more then others, some people pay less. But regardless, everyone in this country is contributing. I really don't see the point in complaining about it.

You don't know whats going to happen to you years from now. I hope you never get injured on a job or something. If you do, deny the services, since someone will be thinking your getting it for "FREE". Wouldn't want to do that. Also, I hope your kid gets a job right when they turn 14 and move out by 18, I would hate for you to think they were incompatent and\or Useless.

We all do pay taxes, and I think we ALL should complain on how it is spent. Others however get to see some sort of benefit for their contribution, however people in my class of income do not.

I don't know about you, but I pay for disability insurance outside any government services, I get injured and can't do MY job (not any job) I get paid 3/4 of my income from the insurance, good news is that if I have to collect it is non-taxable

My kid isn't on my site telling me that I have no right to complain about issues that really **** me off. He doesn't tell me that I don't know how to manage money because I complain about gas prices, doesn't tell me that I need to be pitied. He's not trying to be some punk 21-22 year-old know-it-all. Actually he's quite respectful of others.

Once you get her going on Politics and the state of this country look out.
I am not trying to get involved in anyone else's debate, but in all honesty wait until you have left school and been in th eworkforce for a few years and watch how your views change.
I am not saying your opinions are wrong, but you will be amazed how your views and perspective change over time.
I for one am now an old bitter man

And that is why nothing gets done in this country, because everyone accepts the way things are. So if the government decides they want to increase the taxes on your paycheque and you see no change in what they are doing with that money they just took from you, that won't bother you? C'mon, you got to be kidding me.

Hopefully when you do decide to have kids and I don't know if you are married or not, but when you start to do things like own a house and have more financial responsibilities, I don't think your view will be the same.

Why would anyone want to wait until it is all gone?
