... Quick Question ...

whats LightScribe ? was just checkin out some PC parts and noticed that there are some new "LightScribe" dvd burners around ... whats the diff between those and reg dvd burners ?

its a technology that allows labeling of CD and DVD media.

the disk has a special coating that reacts to a laser.. the drive has a second "special" laser.. you burn your disk as normal, then you take it out, flip it upside down, and then the second laser will burn the image/label on the CD

can only be done in monochrome

oh so its the labelling that lets u burn "writing" into the bottom of the CD or the TOP of the cd ? cause ive had one of these burners for quite some time then .... the YAMAHA writes into the dye in the cd .. and when u flip it over u can read it ....

weird that they now give it a new name ... but .. aritey ..

i think lightscribe is HP's brand name for their version of it.. maybe now it became a generic name like kleenex

I wouldn't pay any extra money for this lightscribe stuff....I think you need special cds also

hahah yea u do .. i had this lightscribe **** for like 3 years now ... YAMAHA calls it something diffrent i forget right now .. but yea it wont work with ur standard Ridata silver bottoms .. u gotta use like those deep blue or other colour'd discs .. waste o money !
