Quitting smoking

So I'm on day three of no smoking.

i had enough and deciced to put an end to the addiction.

i feel like killing everybody and running around like a maniac in a jungle with an axe.

anyone here quit? how long for you to stop being on edge?

it supposedly takes about 3 months for it to leave your blood.. so i'm guessing that is how long the chemical addiction will be there for.. but i'm hoping it won't be like this..

i'm going cold turkey, by the way.

at the same time, i should point out, i'm not anti smoking.. i still support anyone who wants to smoke in any priavte establishment which wishes to allow it!!!!

i quit after a year of smoking... its crap... took a couple weeks for me to stop getting the craving...
but it wan't that bad for me...
smoking is a waste, waste of health, and money.... hell packs are like 10 bucks now... umm duh

im still smoking after 9 years and i have tried to stop a few times... but the truth is, i enjoy it... i will quit eventually yes, but for now i dont feel like it...

btw i have cut down alot from a year ago... i only smoke about 6 per day... thats alot better than the pack a day i was a year or two ago

I've been smoking since 16, I'm 19 now.. I get my cigarettes (Belmonts) for $50 a carton.. I tried quitting about 3 months ago, I stopped for about 3 weeks.. Then I got drunk one night and a buddy handed me a smoke, and me being so drunk I took it and now I can't stop again. I'll try again eventually, but like ^ said.. I just don't feel like it right now.. Plus, I don't have the time to be worrying about whether or not I should light up.

yeah.. i quit before... for 2 weeks.. i got drunk.. my friend put a cigarette in mouth.. smoked that night... then had exams... then broke up with my woman at the time... and was back...

i just had enough... and decided i was done with it.. i have been cutting down for a while... but that's it.

i feel like a rabid animal now though.. and i'm hoping no one bugs me at work.

smoking however, is not a waste of anything. coca-cola is bad for you too. just because you feel cigarettes are stupid, does not mean everyone does. It's a lifestyle choice.

If someone wants to smoke, they should be able to.

We all gotta go sometime. Be Free!

yeah I'm a pretty heavy smoker. wish I could stop. I think I could... I'm just not quite there yet.

deciding to quit is up to you... for a long time now.. i've benn entertaining thoughts of quitting... have cut down.. only to lead back up to regular smoking.

i love smoking... cigarettes are so great (sometimes)...

it is an unhealthly addiction... and i realize how i'm not tasting food so much.. not smelling things as much.. being short of breath... always have a sore/scratchy throat.. sometimes i get chest pains...

one day, you may decide to quit... but until you make the choice, don't let anyone tell you what to do!

have a smoke for me!

I went cold turkey on Oct 16th, 2003. Haven't smoked since. I have started smoking since I was 17 or so, and smoked for 10 or 11 years, around there.

I loved smoking, I just loved it. To be honest, I don't know what made me quit, it could be health reason, influence from gf, mother, whatever.

I was at a Wed meet that day, after my last cigarette, I just decided not to buy any more cigarettes.

I have noticed some gains in breathing ability, more air in the lung. And my car don't smell.

36hrs before the nicoteine is out of your system, smoking is the fastest drug delivery system invented and it's the hardest to kick. The "cravings" last for different times for different people. For the first week or two, try and recognize your triggers and avoid those situations as best as possible. Some people have found sucess replacing the bad habit with another(exercise, hobby, activity etc.) but it is something that you must want to do to succeed.

yeah.. my triggers are going to work.. going to lunch... finishing lunch.. coming back to work.. leaving work... getting in the car... getting out of the car.. starting to do something.. finishing something..

Isn't it going to be the hardest after eating a big meal? I HAVE to have a Cigarette after any big meal, its like religious to me, lol.

to me getting in my car more than anything.

i don't want to smoke... but i feel aggravated.. chemical withdrawal i would think.

i looked at some anti-smoking websites.. they're all stupid.. so biased and mis informed.

i think they are mostly written by women who have never smoked in their lives.

one of the tips was to call a friend and tell them how frustrated you are. can you imagine calling up one of your boys to share your feelings to make you feel happy?

i quit cold turkey last year around this time i was a animal i hated everyone and everything for about a month and then i was fine



but then i started again when summer came around i guess smokin in your car with the windows down and music going is just too good but im cutting down now that i dont smoke in my new car.

but the hardest thing i had to overcome was the morning ritual and smokin on my breaks

ive heard that when your quitting put the money that you would buy cigarettes with in a jar and then count that money after a month and see how much you spend and it definatly makes you think twice about pissing your money away on butts

The money method works for some, it depends on what drives you. For some people it's the increased energy levels, not smelling or having cheesy fingers, food tasting better or just getting rid of the cough.

Well Bruce, I can't say I have noticed too many different changes but I suppose all these are subtle things. They say if you quit before 30, you don't really lose any years of your life; you lose like 5 if you quit at 40, 10 at 50 and so on, just some numbers they throw around.

But I wouldn't know exactly how long I am going to live. God forbid if I get rolled tomorrow, then I gotta ask myself: "why the fvck did I quit in the first place?"

My life is still the same. Day in day out. Well I frequent convenience stores less now.
