If I knew what I was talking about?

"36hrs before the nicoteine is out of your system, smoking is the fastest drug delivery system invented and it's the hardest to kick. "

Your sentence doesn't even make sense.

Generally speaking.. when doing drugs.. any drugs..... injection, smoke, snort, swallow is the order, no? quickest and strongest to most casual.

your body will crave nicotine for about 3 months, no? Do you mean to say 36hrs is when the serious withdrawal hits?

If smoking cigarettes is the hardest thing to quick, no one should have sympathy for crack heads and heroin addicts.. if so many people can quit smoking.. and if it is so much harder...

Nova, I don't think 'they' know anything to discuss how many years you lose from your life... there are so many factors that will accept your life span... no one can really judge that..

I'm mostly sick of feeling like ish in the mornings. I pretty much quit drinking a while back for the same reason.. but it doesn't seem to be enough.

At least now I can make jerka55 comments to my woman and get away with it. It' s like i have PMS for the next month.

I still drink, I like it. Just a little bit here and there and get wasted once in a blue moon :P

But I must admit, at first, when I drank, I needed a smoke bad. Now, I don't even think about it. Well my smoking habit was strange. I can go smoke-less over the weekend if I wasn't thinking about it. Then comes Monday and I was like... how come I still have so many smokes left? Oh... cause I forgot to smoke on the weekend.

We were drinking in school, we bought and sold beer to make profit every Friday afternoon. The prof and student body came down stairs, shoot some pool and drink and smoke.

Buddy, you’re just sounding more and more ignorant. As a Rehab Associate, I've been privy to a lot of information and dealt with countless addicts. Until you get a clue about what you’re talking about, stick to something you know. And yes, studies show that roughly 36hrs after your last cig the nic is out of your system. Just because you crave it doesn't mean it's in you. As far as delivery, after a drag it's less than 7 seconds before the nic hits the brain, there is nothing faster, period.

I luckily cant get addicted to cigarettes...the cost factor is huge deterrent for me but even so I can smoke for a week straight and never crave a cigarette after that week...even drugs I dont crave or have an urge to use...but then alcohol is another story lol...sweet sweet booze...I think I'm gonna down some shots of rum right now

ive been trying to quit also.. i stopped buying packs 2 weeks ago, theres a store down my street that sells singles so i buy a couple from there every day to hold me down. Bruce ur right, everytime i step foot in my car its just a natural reaction to reach for my smokes. What a dirty, expensive habbit.

i smoked for 8 years and quit cold turkey about 10 months ago. I found the constant cravings went away after about 3 weeks.
At first it seemed weird to not smoke while drinking but i'm used to it now.
I found not smoking in my car the hardest thing to do.
Try not to replace smoking with eating, like at work on break and stuff.

pain2bare, you're telling me i'd get more bang for my buck if i smoked heroin instead of injected it?

Rehab associate.. what is that exactly... you work in a rehab clinic.. what do you do... i realize you likely know a great deal more than me regarding this.. but i do not see how needle is not as potent as smoking...

i've been around a number of addicts myself.

Bruce is right, injecting something makes it act way faster than smoking. 7 seconds to hit the brain is an eternity compared to an injection drug.

As far as quitting smoking, that's something that I did recently. I wasn't all that addicted so it was fairly easy. I took 3 weeks off smoking entirely. I found that this caused me to increase my other smoking habit but at least that stopped any weight gain and I certainly wasn't a hostile person. Since then I just smoke whenever I feel like it. This usually turns out to be 1 or 2 times a week. The odd time I'll buy a pack and smoke for a weekend but then I just pass off the pack to my roommate. Smoking a cigarette is a great feeling and it gets much better when you don't smoke all that often. I'm not worried about falling into my old habits because of the semi-disgusting nature of cigarettes. They feel good at the time, but then afterwards the taste and feeling in my lungs keeps me from wanting more.
