it sucks... I live in barrie and although I thought they would end up finding the kid dead I was hoping for the best.
I know that area and its pretty heavly wooded and a couple open fields. It would be hard for even hundreds of searchers to get every square meter covered.
sad ending...

What a very sad thing to happen. I feel sympathy for what this teenager was going through, and also for the tragedy that the family is experiencing.

The one thing that really stuck out for me was what the father did. Allowing him to leave, calling his bluff. I think as a parent myself, I may have done the same thing, knowing your kids at times, don't mean everything they say. I would have thought the same thing, that my child would have come back after an hour or so.

I can't even imagine the guilt he must feel for making that decision and I know it would be playing on my mind, if I could go back and change what I said that day.

He has to live with that decision for the rest of his life.

I agree... its going to be a struggle for a long time. I did that when I was younger and my dad called my bluff. I would probably do the same thing.

is there any update on this? Have investigators found out cause of death yet?
I sincerely hope it wasn't at the hands of someone else.
My prayers are with the family as they go through what must be the most heart wrenching experience.

They said they don't suspect foul play, but no report as of yet.

Yes the parents may be PART of the blame, but not all. Do you have kids?

I love how people can sit here and judge as if they known the family all their lives.

When you have facts, come back with an appropriate answer.

Did you not cause enough $hit today on JDMrides assuming Tyler died of a herion OD? Now you come on here blaming his parents when its clear they had his best interest at heart.
you never learn...
There is many factors... but for you to assume and make a statement like that based on no facts.

i hope ur joking

ur blaming microsoft for the kid's death? lol

it all starts and ends with the way children are brought up and the morals/discipline instilled in them.

I remember as a child I played a lot of video games, but when it was time to study or whatnot and my dad would give me that stare, I knew if I didn't shut that system off and do some work, I'd be in ****.

I respect my parents for showing me tough love sometimes, I'm very proud of the person I am today because of that.
So before blaming microsoft; look inside your household and the way you are brought up. Sometimes a bit of discipline goes a long way. I gurantee you that 99% of ppl immigrating into Canada were disciplined (spanked) at one point in their life....period

Agreed.

Sure the kid may have been seriously involved in playing online and his parents took the game away from him because of his gaming. But, I'm sure there was much worse things a 15 year kid could be doing besides playing video games. Drugs, gangs, crime, etc.

I have a buddy in the OPP and he was up in Barrie helping with the search on his days off. He said that many of his fellow officers were blaming the parents for taking the xbox away from him.

I see the IQ test standards aren't very high for OPP.

If you take away my car, and I go kill myself, are you to blame?

Kids do stupid things. The father will live with regret for the rest of his life, and I really don't think he should be blamed for it.

Thank you.

It's not just the kids, but the parents. It's a growing process and NO ONE has it down right. No one is the PERFECT PARENT!

The kid was a straight A student, who all of a sudden was failing because of the xbox. The father did the right thing by taking it away, which he did more than once.

I can't wait until some of you have kids and then come back and say how easy it is to raise them.
