I personally like Pentax cameras. I have an old 35mm, but have used two of their digitals (Optio 33LF and Optio S4). I am currently using the S4. For the size of the camera, it takes great pics (4mp). The only issue I find is keeping it steady due to it's size and weight. For shots requiring a steady hand, I use a tripod. No complaints though. The best thing about it is the fact that I can fit it in my pocket with room to spare.

I am currently looking to upgrade though. I have had my eye on the Pentax Optio 750z (7.1mp). I need to sell the S4 first, but I don't know if I can part with it. It's size makes it so convenient.

look for something wit a good optical/digital zoom( now its wround 8x optical, and 8times digital) and someting wit a good megapixel amount.. 5mp is good these day.


i would suggest a nikon, they have the best digis out there now. i have a nikon coolpix 5700, this camera is awsome.

Get a Sony DSC-F717 I've been using it for 2 yrs and I think its a good buy... and I use my memory stick for personal data storage too not just pictures... It has 4.9 million effective pixels, 5.2 million sensor photo detectors and 38 mm - 190 mm (5x) zoom lens

The wife told me today that one of the presents under our tree is a Canon A85 so I can stop shopping around. Thanks for the tips guys.
