repost class assignment questions

Alright, so hopefully this go around the thread can stay alive.

here are the questions again for anyone that can answer them, appreciate it!

1) Do you guys inform your insurance companies about modifications to the vehicle?
2) What kind of cars do you/ have witnessed street racing (more shells like CRX's, or more expensive cars that come powerful stock like WRX's etc.)
3) Is the underground street racing scene anything at all like what video games such as Need for Speed portray it .
4) What do you suggest cops could do to really combat street racing, since the new 50+ law really affects people just driving fast on a dense traffic street that is patrolled and does nothing to the actual street race scene in industrial areas?
5) Do you think street racing is a subculture/counter culture? why or why not?
6) Do you think that owners with different car brands/makes also are apart of their own subculture?

thanks.

that whole 50+ law is total bull****. it was quiet for the longest time and this whole media circus started up again in 06 when that cab driver was killed. i know personally the guys that were involved in it and they're good guys they just liked gettin wild out like young guys typically do but unfortunately they took it too far and it ended up in someone's death. they were in the family benzes too, not cars modified 'for' street racing.

that summer the media exposure exploded again and then last summer this retarded 50+ law was decided on to prevent street racing.

if there is an organized scene, then i'm sure theyre safe. the cops don't seem to give a **** about street racing, they're more concerned in shaking down young people with modified imports so that they can make a big spectacle for the public and everyone thinks good of it.

but to be honest, i don't blame the cops because the most dangerous drivers i see are in small rexes and hatches weaving through bumper to bumper traffic like ****ing idiots causing people to brake for them and are generally ****ing stupid. i've seen a decrease of that since the new legislature which i, for one, am glad of.

personally i would prefer the cops leave the real scene alone and go after the people who are actually making the roads dangerous with wreckless driving. my problem with the way cops deal with it is that they're shaking down young drivers with modified imports even if they have done nothing wrong because the ******** know they can **** with as many young people as they want with impunity because we can't afford to fight the bull****.. i mean law.

to be honest, i think the size of the real scene (if there actually IS one) can be reflected by the size of the police effort to catch street racing. is it still ONE infrared heli for all of the GTA?

it's also reflected by the amount of tuners flocking to the track in the summer and by the fact that there are VERY few roads in the GTA that could actually safely accomodate racing.

anyway that's about it.

1. Dan sorry about the last post, my bad. But as you can see people only love hating, and no one else really helped you out either.

So

I’ll answer some of the questions I can.

1.) No, I do not inform my insurance company about my mods, instead I take utmost care to prevent damage or theft to to my car myself.

2.) I have never seen anything other then RICED out crx's or civics’ street race on the streets, I remember racing a bel air in Richmond hill, and I got waxed in my 350Z TT, and the rx8 got shat, pissed, and cummed on.

3.) Thank you DAN someone who knows his terms UDERGROUND STREET RACING. Yes it is like the game but not in CANADA, CANADA is like the farm out back, not much goes on here, go to places like Italy and Dubai, and IDIOTS ON HERE who are hating will know what real street racing and underground street racing is. They are both different.

4.) They can tag cars, and follow up the location later with the GPS. Like the new systems they have now where in a hot pursuit their car shoots a small tracking penny size device that tags the car, and cops later setup a trap and catch those people. IF these ***** *** scenes do still happen in Toronto many people are going to get busted for their slow cars.lol

but here's the thing as long as people stay under the radar, cops won't hassle you, but then cops in Canada know compared to elsewhere they are in wonderland when it comes to street or underground street racing.

5.) I don't think the street racing scene has anything to do with culture, its people who love cars and want to show their efforts put into the car, there are few types of enthusiast in this one whole, people who like the raw speed and adrenalin, people who love to modify to make the car look different unique. People who are ricers (love cars but have no genetic articulation), and then the ghosts, people who love the sport but don't affiliate.

6) I did not quite understand your last question.

Right now i have told them it's all stock, but once it's painted, i will be calling them to get them to change the color on it, and getting full coverage, and letting them know whats done to the car. That way my *** is covered.

1. have no mods, when I did I never informed insurance and even when I had 2 cars written off they didnt care about any of the mods...these were the good ol' days

2. I have witnessed it all from mom's minivan to ferraris to sport bikes, blown cameros, svt cobras, vipers...everything...when money is in the air people come out

3. its not like NFS Underground or Fast and the Furious as those games/movie use bait locations to do what they do...its more secluded industrial parks or back roads in more rural areas

4. You cant get rid of it...its been around for over 50years...its not gonna stop, the more you fight it the more people wanna do it...its about the rush I suppose

5. The street racing society has a culture all its own...their own rules, language etc...they live by their laws for the most part...it stems from various other cultures as there are all walks involved

6. There are obviously different groups among the street racers...the honda boys, nissan boys, drifters, domestics etc etc...even different crews from different geographical areas...its these sectors among them that "fuel" the scene and keep it going as there is always "the fast guy" that somebody wants to beat...not unlike sanctioned racing...always gunning for the top spot...

...and on the topic if gunning...i've seen many guns involved in this crap...people dont wanna pay up, smack talking etc...thank goodness I'm older and wiser and distance myself from these people and their hangouts

1) no, but i don't have any stupid mods like a lowered suspension.
2) none. i see cop cars break the most rules more than any other single type of car.
3) not sure, but probably as true to life as being a gang banger is to grand theft auto 3.
4) increase/decrease speed limits where they should be instead of numbers sweeping roads by zones, enforce better driving habits, provide a good example with their driving habits.
5) depends on your definition of street racing, and of culture. the original "skinhead movement" by many is seen as some sort of sub culture with meaning, all i see it as is a bunch of blue collar workers who dressed differently than the norm and hung out with Jamaicans.
6) sure, but not for the average person. owning a Ferrari is something different.
