Rice Cooker?

Rice Cooker?
As weird as this sounds, I'm doing a bit of research on some rice cookers now... not gonna do it the old fashioned way on the stove top etc.. etc... I'm frickin Chinese, I use a rice cooker. Looking to see what brands are the best, don't want to pay an arm and a leg, and looking something relatively compact... so 5-7 cups ... 10 cups max. Not an ABSOLUTE must, but a included tray for steaming vegetables and stuff would be cool... budget $80-150 ... or is that being unrealistic for a badass one? (if there was ever such a thing)....

go to the store...look for one that is 80-150bucks...buy it and be done...pretty simple eddy.
you like to make things more complicated then they need to be dont you?
they all make rice, some have timers, some have more involved timers, some have steam trays etc...pick what you want/need and fits your price range and you're golden
cheap no name ones work well, expensive stainless ones work well...find an expensive one on sale and get rice cooking

My parents bought a mini rice cooker last year from crappy tire, and it still holds up fine. It slightly burns the rice a little (not really burnt but makes it a light brownish colour at the bottom of the bowl). I believe the rice cooker they bought was $10 or somewhere around that range.
My parents are super cheap, and never buy any expensive stuff. They usually get the cheapest of the cheap. In my lifetime, I've seen only 3 different rice cookers in my parents house, and that's including the current one they have now. So in terms of brand of rice cookers. I think you'll be good with any brand.
To be honest the $10 mini rice cooker from crappy tire is not the greatest, but it does a decent job. It won't cook good rice like a decent full size rice cooker though. If you are picky about your rice, don't buy the crappy one one from cdn tire.

National, Tigar, Zojirushi are all good brands. Simply go to Pac Mall/FMP/Market Village and shop there. Just don't scrap the inside of the pot when you wash it, you will get uneven cooked rice.
I would go with simple "press and cook" ones, no need for digital timers or fancy things like that.
