Yes we do, until the plant in Alabama opened a few months ago we were the only plant in the world to build Odyssey...now we build the Cdn ones, Saudi Arabian ones and RHD ones for Japan. We are still the only plant in the world that builds Pilot and MDX...we are now building RHD MDX for Japan and Autralia.

Hey, I am always wondering, why our USDM Honda's always have fewer fancy toys?

If they built all the Odessey here in Canada. Wouldn't it be cheaper if they make it all the same as export models (except for the RHD)?

Wondering what's the major different between CDN and Saudi Odyssey? Do they have a bigger engine or something?

regards,
Mugen C

Ya, it's weird watching the LaGreat (Odyssey) roll off the line, it has HID's, Fog's, burlwood dash trim and steering wheel, ued to be leather and DVD too but not we get those options too. Saudi Odyssey's the same (far as I know).

I gotta say...If I had to drive a minivan...

I know what you are talking about Tmak, such as this:

If we import one of those into Canada...sure all the domestic drivers will call it "Rice"

i dunno
lets see 2 parents 3 kids
2 of them play soccer the other one is to young (still in stoller) so
mom weighs 130lbs, dad weighs 180, kids weigh 120 all together, add in the pads, stoller and food/drinks another 50lbs

Id say that about another 3" it would drop and those nice chorme tips are now sparks behind it lol

now if the dad was a COACH thats a whole new math lesson lol

Saudi Odysseys are a little different. They have to have a full sized spare and have to be able to run on regular (leaded) gasoline. I think that is about it. Engine wise, not much change. Definitely not bigger. Also the Mexican Odyssey have to have a fire extenguisher. The LaGreat also has fender side marker lights, flares etc. These are all regulatory items. Because every country has different regulations, they can't be all made the same. If it was possible, yes, it would be cheaper to make them all the same and car manufacturers would love to but they can't... Okay, I am getting a little too much in the details.

Mark

P.S. Hey, StewPiddass, what department do you work in? I know some people who work in Alliston.
Also, the Sayama plant is another factory that builds the "Odyssey" but it is the JDM one but technically, it is an "Odyssey". Oh, yeah, the "JDM Odyssey" just started production in China this year. HCM and Alabama are the only factories that build the US Odyssey/LaGreat (okay this is Alliston only).

hmmm intresting.... looks coool i like it...

I work at a Suzuki Delaership ( in sales ) and we are right across the street from CAMI ( GM/Suzuki assembly plant ) they build Vitara and Vitara Convertibles there, for the USDM market, and the JDM market, its odd to see the trucks that go to Japan, they are diffrent inside, outside, diffrent taillights, headlights ect... its kinda neat to drive a RHD vehical too... sure seems diffrent, so not only does honda build vehicals in canada for foreign markets so does Suzuki...

That is so cool, seeing brand new RHD cars comming out of Canadian factories! Go Candian economy!

Just think how much easier it would be to get a REAL JDM car now, you can go to Allistion to go pick it up inseated of importing it from Japan!

now all we need it the Skyline. Skyline here we come!
