I'd have to agree with you for the most part but there are some entertaining fighters that still put on a great show.

too bad he had to get up ... otherwise he prob would have won by jus pounding Mir's face and it seemed to be working until he got up and then Mir grabbed his leg and finished him off ... a highly anticipated fight done in less then 2mins was really disappointed.

Nothing beat UFC in the old days.

Sure you may walk in the ring, but there's a good chance you'll be leaving in a bag.

I wonder if there's a torrent for this yet?>

The first ever UFC match said it all, Teila Tuli vs Gerard Goudreau.

Can't believe I still have all these on tape.

Question

There is no doubt in my mind that the old UFC > The New UFC. Back in the day it was unheard of to stop a fight because of blood. If someone was bleeding heavy, it made it that much more gruesome to win the fight.

Those of you who are all stuck up on Pride, it's over. Anyone with a decent amount of skill and potential will end up in the UFC. UFC blew up, not for the better - but it is in the spotlight right now. It's where the fighters want to be for the potential of a contract and perhaps endorsements if they are explosive enough.

No **** it's over. That's not the point.

The point is Pride was a better fighting organization. They just did things better. They may have made some stupid decisions money wise which led to their down fall but they were simply more entertaining.

The crowds were larger and more respectful/appreciative of the fighters. They cheered for everyone as long as they gave their best. You never heard boo's in Japan.

The fight cards were pretty much always entertaining because they didn't put on 50000 shows a year so they could always have top names fighting.

They did things like grand prix tournaments which for some reason the UFC refuses to do. I mean come on...do you know how amazing and entertaining it would have been for them to have a tournament for the heavyweight title after Couture left?

Just like anything else America, the UFC has turned into nothing more then a money making machine for advertisers and marketers. ***, do you remember a few years ago how often they'd mention **** like Xyience (however you spell it) during the ultimate fighters shows and ****? Do you really think any of those fighters take that ****?

It's getting rediculous and I miss Pride like ****.

all businesses exist to make money... if more people watched and paid money to watch more 'real' fighting then it would've gone in that direction but people prefer to watch what UFC has become... so that's what it is...

you're in the minority if you liked the more 'real' version of MMA fighting

the world = 6 billion people...

North America = 330+ million people

how big is sherdog again? 140,000 members... damn you're right you sherdog guys are gonna take over the world soon...

how many people watch the average UFC event... 2+ million or so??

140K would be an abysmal showing for even a Canadian non syndicated TV show... let alone a multi-national sporting competition...

if many members on sherdog feel the same way I do I'm sure it's safe to say that there are a lot more in that 2 million as well.

There's nothing else to watch but UFC now which is why it will only succeed.

I mean what other option do we have now?

Bodog? gimme a break.

I think if Pride was based in north america as opposed to japan and didn't have the huge time difference and could actually be watched prime time on pay per view *LIVE* it would have been way better off.
