thanks a ton for all the responses. now i am a little confused b/w the LCD and Plasma..haha. Mike...the crutchfield prices are no different than FS plus they dont have any plasmas for sale..guess they dont sell them. those links were very helpful and had some good information...thank you.

a couple of things that i am sure wont happen with the tv....no gaming and pc hookup..although sounds damn nice and i have been wanting to get a ps3 for quiet some time now but i just dont have any free time for that. the tv will be mostly for the little ones watching cartoons to be honest lol

i checked the sale happening at brick for plasmas....50" sony plasma for 1699 as well but i am not sure if 50" will be too big for the room. the picture of the room is attached. the tv will be going in the exact location as you see the existing home owners had theirs.

on second thought....do you guys think that even 46" will be bigger for that corner in the picture? i cant figure what size of that existing unit is but it looks somewhat small.

Very, very nice eventhough I'm not a fan of LCD and Sony. The price's drop so quickly these days. My Samsung was around $3500 last fall. Now, this year's model of the same tv is just under $2000 at most places.

My next TV will be a Pioneer Elite. God's very own tv.

Sal, I'll take a pic of mine, just give me a minute. Mine is in a corner beside my fireplace, so you can compare the sizes. The one you posted looks 42" to me. BRB.

Even if you don't "plan" on gaming on it, a PS3 playing a blu-ray movie on a 720 or 1080 tv looks phenomenal.

My tv is in avery bright room, which isn't recommended for plasmas, but it still looks great.

my sister has a 40" xbr and I'm not very impressed with it. The unit itself looks super nice though

Sal, i would mount the TV on top of the fireplace with a nice mounting bracket that lets you tilt it in every direction ...

something like .... :

nice and CLEAN ...

I was also going to say that. BUT, unless there are cable/power/av connections above the fireplace, it might look messy unless having the cables come up from the corner where they probably are now. You could run the cables through the walls up behind where the mirror is, but it can be costly.

running cables through the wall is pretty simple...slightly messy but thats what I would do if I had a fireplace...futureshop will do that kinda install for a decent price too...my buddy got his home theatre installed by bestbuy...wall mounted tv and rear speakers up on the ceiling...didnt cost him too much and it looks pro

loudsubz used to do home audio installs if anyone might need help.

Just to add becuase I totally forgot, I had one of my TV's above my fireplace for a few days because I had the builder pre-wire the wall with cable and power. Anyway, the TV "looked" cool hung up on the wall, but I really didn't enjoy watching it. It is too high and not even with the eye where it is supposed to be for optimum viewing.

My naihbour is like Ex Russian KGb and does home security systems and everything else..he installed my LCd and ran all the cables and even made a new power outlet behind the tv so that I did'nt have to run power cables. He even wired the Tv so that I can hook a camera up to the front of the house. The guy is super sik he also installed my home security. If you are serious and need a number let me know you will definatly be happier then Best Buy or Future shop.
