Just to add becuase I totally forgot, I had one of my TV's above my fireplace for a few days because I had the builder pre-wire the wall with cable and power. Anyway, the TV "looked" cool hung up on the wall, but I really didn't enjoy watching it. It is too high and not even with the eye where it is supposed to be for optimum viewing.
+1...many ppl i know did the same thing cuz after a while, it was too awkward to watch it while looking slightly upwards.

i still havent made up my mind.....it looks like these two brands are equally good per reviews. plus i might get two of these....one for the family room plus one for the bedroom upstairs....but perhaps next week after i have moved in and settled down for a bit.

My offer to check out mine still stands.

What you could do is get the cheaper lcd for the kids and a pimp plasma for you. I don't think the kids will complain. "Dad, this tv SUCKS! It's only got 1 HDMI connection!!!

Wii downstairs for the kids, PS3 upstairs for daddy.

haven't done TOO much research into this yet, but we're in the midst of finding a TV as well... not sure if this question was answered before, but which uses more energy? plasma or lcd? I heard Plasma, but is it THAT much of a dif?

Plasma is supposed to be less energy effecient, but I didn't notice any difference on my hydro bill when I started using 2 plasmas. The way hydro rates fluctuate, you'll never notice the increased cost. Most tv's have settings you can adjust to use less power.
