School or Work
Here is my predicament,
I'm looking to go back to school in the fall for photography at Seneca York, I live in Guelph and at the moment I'm looking for work...Now, I'm in a tough spot...if I go to school I'm either going to have to move closer to York or commute and in either case its gonna cost me money in fuel plus rent here or less fuel and rent there...I have no idea how I would be able to pay to live paying rent $800 or so plus living expenses while in school while living in Guelph or closer to York for that matter...I've been looking for jobs and everywhere wants long term employees full-time basis (those are the only jobs that pay well).
So, should I take a decent job and put school off or should I go to school and struggle like a kid again slaving away at school and a measly part time job to make ends meet?
living back at home really isnt an option as my parents live either far away or have a smaller place that couldnt accommodate myself and my dog. I think I'm pretty focked at this point

is going to school going to get you gaurenteed employment? i took networking in school and got my certifications then deployed myself into a totally saturated market. i then went to work for my dad $****** poorer and further behind then when i started. but that was the story of my life back then...

fock yea...school might have to wait again...I dunno...of course its not going to guarantee employment like if it was a skilled trade or a doctor or something but it will open up avenues to employment in something that I actually like opposed to doing something mediocre for years or whatever...its a tough deceision at this point...if this was 6 years ago it would be a different story...

Get a Business Degree as well, if you have both college business diploma and a university business degree, companies will run after you. It will show you have hands on experience (college) and the Theory (university) to back up your skill and education level to succeed.
Not all Business degrees lead to a cubicle, there are many interesting Business degrees at York, other then the typical Administration, you can go into Arts Business degree such as Business and society, in which you can major in firms, you can work for the government or large companies who will pay you to investigate large companies, big money and you get to make big contacts.
Im not hundred percent sure but there are tons of similar business degrees that lead to many excited business opportunities. Heck man, take a degree, for a better stable fall back and use osap, and the money to maybe start your own business down the road.
I’ve seen many kids save up the osap money and start their own business while finishing last year, I wish I had done that, anyways, if you can, try to get a degree its very useful, specially if you decide to live abroad one day.

I would say keep photography as one of your hobbies. There are way too many people out there trying to be professional photographers that its much harder to make decent cash doing it. If you do make it into the business it will be hard to start making some real dough. Hell when you type in my first and last name on google some photographer in Toronto shows up....
