i wonder how many of you would feel, one day maybe not now or not 2moro, that there dogs, cats or even birds were no longer on this planet.

i hate dogs but that dont mean killing them every year is kool

wait until some of u have kids..sitting at the dinner table and u have to tell your kids a long long long time ago there was these animals called birds that used to fly freely on the sky, but we had to kill them all because it was fun... now there none..

I dont have a problem if one kills a seal or any animal for that matter, just to EAT or make money for their living such as Inuits etc.

I HAVE a problem when people kill animals for fun, and I am in between for people killing animals just for their skin or making money out of animals when they could very well get another job which is more respectable.

335,000 I wonder what the projected new birth rate is for the seal population...

it definately is a method of controlling a population that is harming the fishing industries. When they stopped the cod fishery industry in the east coast to give the cod population a chance to grow again they discovered it wasn't growing and had to extend the period of time that prevented the fisherman from making a living. one of the main reason is the expanding population of seals from lack of hunting. of course seals were used for much more then just their fur the blubber and oils were also used at one point. but there is currently only a market for the seal furs...

is it wrong that we hunt the seal population? is it wrong that a few years back the humans culled the deer populations in north eastern USA because they were causing us problems? I think it is, Humans have got to learn that the phrase everything in moderation is a good phrase.

if you look at the natural world "food" for animals is only taken out at around 5% of the total amount produced, and here we are saying that 20 to 30% is ok for use to remove. we have to start looking at the larger picture. sure culling the seal population might allow the cod population to recover but we have to start removing from nature what we need in Moderation. We also have to start using more of the animals we kill. in the past Humans used to do this. no part of the animal went to waste.

we have 7 billion people on this planet and the population is continuing to expand. currently most scientists believe that without artifical fertizilers (growing organically) the planet could only support 1 billion people. artifical fertizilers are created from oil and other fossil fuels. so out of 7 people 6 of them are snacking on oil as a way of sustaining them. so next time you are at timmies and order a donut, remember you are most likely snacking on oil.

anyways just some of my thoughts on the matter, I think in future there will be a market correction and we will start paying heavily for the cheap oil we have used in the past.

just some thoughts from a guy thats becomming more aware of the environment as time ticks on

bottom line is just cuz it walks this planet (or swims this planet I guess) doesn't give us the right to 'contol' it. we should look at controlling our own population first there is a natural balance, and without our influence, nature will come to it. as for ppl getting killed or perishing from famine, well ... what do you expect when you populate an area where resources are scarce.

i dont have a pet......owning a dog and not living on a big, open, farm is just as cruel.

you gotta love those humanitarians that buy a large dog and then confine it to a 10' x 10' patch of grass in the backyard for 23.5 hours per day.

If there is a well, there will be an action. People wanted precious furs and hence, you get people who get paid to obtain such furs for you. You want to eat bear paws, you get people to hunt bear paws for you.

At the end of the day, it is those who have money that control those who need money; as much as you hate what you do, you have no choice and you become numb of it. Please don't say "go find a job" because the truth of the matter is, it ain't easy.

Majority of us are working to support the upper society - the rich, the fame, the power. You buy records and watch movies so the stars can live their Hollywood life. When you have couple mills that you can blow with, of course you want to live the life of the rich.

Money is one of the roots of all problems, but, sadly, the world has evolved that we cannot live without it. Majority of us cannot make a difference, because we are all drifters within the big current - you go with the flow, and you die with the flow.

I think its sick considering a lot of the seals that are killed are done so for sport or entertainment. Its one thing to kill the seals for their economic value buts it another to do it so cruely. Skinning a seal alive is just sickening to me. But I am sure when they kill cows its pretty gruesome too... but atleast it gets used. With this seal hunt some people kill them and leave the corpse. What a waste.

Skinning alive is just wrong, I can't imagine the pain the animal is going through. Just horrible.
