I played with a coolpix once, its takes pretty good pics for that class, and is small and easy to use...

my big issue is no viewfinder, not a huge one (although if you take pictures outside in sunlight, makes a big difference)..

Seems only Sony and Canon are using viewfinders in that class...I've used a family members SD1000 a few times, its pretty good..

What kind of camera is it??

If it's anything other then an SLR or higher-end pro-sumer camera (even that is a stretch)...don't bother...

just buy a new one

throwing out a camera just cause the shutter button fell out seems wasteful to me.

I wish our culture would get out of this mentality of disposing everything when it could easily be fixed.

You can always contact the Canadian Head office of your camera brand to get it fixed. I did that with my Nikon and Nikon's head office is in Mississauga.

its a canon powershot sd300. its an old model so no more warranties. I just use it to take casual pictures... the size is good and pictures are decent. I don't want to throw it out just because the click button is missing. I'm even planning to just leave it in my car just in case. I will give them a call and see what happens. thanks

the thing is that most modern consumer items cost more to fix than to buy a newer model. Heck to buy a nissan sentra part by part costs over $250,000!! So a replacement switch may cost 150 bucks and a new camera can be had for a little more than that. Like don't throw it out if it still works, just demote it to abuse use!

I remember I dropped my old P&S 3.2 MP camera and the zoom busted. I had warranty on it, so they just gave me a new 6.0 MP one for less than I paid for the 3.2.
