So I got my digital camera...
Some of you may remember my post a while ago asking for some help in picking up a digital camera. Well I got one and I chose the Canon Powershot S400. This is an awesome little camera. It takes great quality pics and is extremely portable...i can carry it in my pocket no problem.
The only downside is that it doesnt have the full manual controls (ie focus, shutter speed, aperature). But for most shots that isnt really necessary with this camera. It usually does a great job picking all the settings itself. This is especially true when taking up-close macro shots. The quality is simply amazing.
Another great feature is the long shutter mode. This allows you to set the shutter speed up to 15 seconds! Really amazing for night shots.
I have a few sample pics posted up here:

Thanks to all those who replied in my original thread and helped me pick a camera!

The cam is not the expensive part........($300+ for a half decent one to start).....it's the extra battery and memory cards that can get you into trouble.
For me................Cam......charging station for the cam......8 rechargable batteries & charger (just in case I'm going to a place that doesn't have a power supply)......and memory cards. It CAN get expensive.
Am I glad I took the digital plunge? YEP.
After seeing One Hour Photo, I'll never go back to regular film. (I still keep a 35mm as a back-up, just in case though)
If you've seen the film, you'll know what I mean.

You've got a pic of the building where I used to work! Cool!
Nice pics you've taken with your new camera, I especially like the water dripping from the faucet. Hope you enjoy your new camera!
I've got a question for you, do you find that it's too small? I was playing around with the digital cameras at Best Buy a while back and I found that the Canon ones were too small for my liking, but maybe it's different once you actually use it for taking pictures instead of just handling it in the store.

Nice pics.
Glad you like the S400. I previously had the S110 but didn't like the fact you couldn't have full control over the settings. That's why I sold it and got a S30.
My gf's sis has the S400 and I was amazed how much better it was than the S110. Good quality night pics and stuff.

i got the camera at futureshop for regular price $699. but at the time they had a promotion where i got a $30 gift certificate. so it's almost like paying $669.
and it's true, it's not necessarily the camera that kills you but the accessories. i found that Canada Computers (www.canadacomputers.com) has a decent deal on CF cards though. I bought a 256MB Lexar for just $89. I also picked up the Canon leather carrying case w/ extra battery from futureshop. so all in all i paid around $160 on just accessories.
i'm happy with the size of the camera. it does take a little getting used to but i think i've adjusted to its small size. i was worried that i would have trouble holding it steady but after a little practice it's not a problem.
the covered bridge in the pics was quite the sight. its the last one left in ontario. it's located near the waterloo/kitchener area. it's just outside of this town called Elmira (near St.Jacobs).
