Thumbs up So I got a new job

As of June 4th, I will be an employee of Toyota Motors Manufacturing Canada, assembling Corollas and Matrix vehicles at the plant in Cambridge.

It starts at just under $28/hr with a $1.65 shift premium for working afternoons and the odd weekend shift. It is only a contract position until December, but I'm told when the new plant opens in Woodstock and if Im a good worker, its very possible I could go there full-time. They can keep me in another contract position in Cambridge or toss me, but I hope not.

The commute from Hamilton will probably suck, but Im very exited anyway. The extra cash will certainly help pay some debts off and I need a new challenge. My current job at the Casino may not be around for ever.

Nice job.
So I guess I won't be seeing you for much longer.

I hope I get in there too.
The whole casino thing is really going under.

I've been waiting about a year and a half for it. I'm told that with the 2008 Corolla/Matrix (a brand new design) production starting very soon, they wil be hiring more people constantly. Next year when the Woodstcok plant opens, they will need 2000 more employees. Its a waiting game. If you go to the TMMC webpage, you can check the staus of your appliction if you have one on file.

The upper management is changing alot of things and lots of employees are not too happy. They are cutting staff and changing hours and shifts, converting the older token type machines into the voucher kind. Our yearly raise is small, there is very little advancement opportunities.

A tech job would be good though. They get paid pretty decent and the machines (new or old) will still need repairs.

You obviously don't know much about whats going on in the casinos.
It's pathetic.
In about 3 or 4 months I won't have a job anymore due to paper and a 500 000$$ machine that barely even works.
.

Among many other things.

I have a friend that works at the casino in Point Edward. Ever since the no smoking ban came in the business went down a lot. Then of course her hrs got cut to almost half. Now with the paper machines and her hrs got cut even more.
