accually wut happened i was working at 1 job 10-5 power went out i stayed till 7 to help tape off freezers and whatnot, i went home my other job left a message that my shift was still on for 1130-8am we were going to work untill the generator gave out
which was still unsafe, there was only like 10% of the lights on in the store, there were 3 people working it was a bullshit shift, they shoudlnt have been able to make us work, plus i was tired as **** lol
btw the generator didnt give out, which we were praying for cause we would have got to go home and get paid

How can you say the Ontario government and the IMO have anything to do with the blackout??? Even if they have a trillion mega watts of power on reserve, how can the power be deliver if the 50 years old North America power grid were knocked out?

The Ontario government and IMO (or whatever the Hydro company is), was more than aware that there was a very real possiblity of a severe blackout because their resources were already over exerted. They have been sending out memo's to large apartment buildings, and office towers warning them of blackouts and asking them to keep down on power consumption and all sorts of other BS. If the bodies incharge of the power grid have focused on providing consumers with the reliable product they PAY for as apposed to balancing their budget and making everything pretty on paper; this would have NEVER happened. There are specific bodies that made this happen, and they are finacially responsible for the damage that they have caused to our households, and most importantly the economy.

The "North America" power grid is made up of different sub-systems with different power companies within US and Canada. Is not own by one company or one government. They can’t just build a new grid and everybody is happy. So I don’t think is fair to point the finger at the current government, especially the problem started at Ohio (it seems). If they don’t learn anything from this accident, then it will be a different story.
Since they have ads out there regarding reducing power use because of the old grid, to me they are being pro-active and trying to educate people so we will not blow our own power grid up.
