Software

Does anyone have a recommendation on a software that can convert Mpeg to avi? I currently have several mpeg format files ranging from 600 to 1.5gb and I need to shrink them. I found a software (Avex dvd Converter) but I need to pay $66 for a code. Anyone with recomendations?

Softpepper is a good one but they are still fairly large. For some reason this avex software can take a 1.5gb mpeg file and turn it into 200 mgs avi format.

I want to put all the files on one dvd disc. IT was a .vob dvd file before then I converted them into seperate mpegs and turned it into 10 gigs! Now I need everything under 4.7

How big was the .vob file sounds like you made it bigger when you converted to mpeg.

Why are you doing all this converting? And are you sure mpeg is the only format to use here?

You want to shrink it to 4.7 to fit a dvd ?
Chances are if you want to save on a dvd the device you intend to read the disc can decipher other formats.

why did you convert the .vob files originally? those are dvd audio and video files which are ready to burn.

if those files together generated more than 4.7GB you could have used dvdshrink to well...shrink everything..or get a dual layer dvd disc.

i dont really know your exact situation so my advice might be void.

The reason was the .vob file had two seperate audio codecs and would not play properly. SO I had to rip it and then convert them all into the same type of file so the audio would work. Now I need it to get back to the point of .vob again.

u can compress video in any format as long as you have the codec which u get for free with ccp or klite mega codeck pack

go to the website I mentioned above. It will give you how-to's and often there will be software you can use which is free.

www.videohelp.com

on the left side go to guides and find the conversion you are looking for(drop down menu)
