I've read / heard of at least a dozen accounts of this kind, involving Blackberries or other handsets.
I would estimate fewer than 10% of misplaced mobile phones are immediately returned / eventually recovered.

Learned a few lessons along the way:
(i) If I put my phone down (i.e.: to charge overnight), it's never out of sight/reach.
(ii) If my phone is not tucked into my belt mounted pouch (i.e.: I'm nekked), it's on loudest ringer.

Everytime; no exceptions.

Which is exactly why (reception-permitting & unless I'm hot-swapping a SIM) I'm accessible every second of every minute of every hour of every day.

I guess you had your blackberry out to look cool with the other people in the bar?

IMO leave that **** hidden or at home. I've had friends get a nice new phone, bring it to the bar, forget it somewhere and POOF gone.

You could also get rogers to put a hold on your account until you get a new blackberry.

yeah..i had my phone out to look cool.... honestly... i don't know why the hell I put it on the table...I always put it in my pocket .... it's all good, it was free, just spoke to Rogers, they waived the $100 fee after about a 30 minute convo with a rep..it was like pulling teeth! In the end, I was paying too much for that crap...it was a sign from god! we in a damn recession ! lol

^^ it happens. Life goes on. I've had a co-worker find keys to a brand new maserati (1 week old), because the guy left the keys out on the table. Obviously it was to show off. The keys were returned though.

Why else would you leave your cell phone or anything else valuable on the table or out in the open at the bar? I guess thinking is a little hard for you?

Blackberry's have a unique PIN. Report it stolen to your carrier and they may be able to disable the PIN and turn it into a brick. At least that way you'll know that noone is using it.
