sopranos - discussing the ending
who thinks tony is dead?
my conclusion is that he is not. but it shows that he is trapped in his life.
this thing of ours, once youre in it, you cant leave it...
he has to live every moment of his life on guard realizing there can be someone out to kill him.
the diner way way too busy for someone to walk up and shoot him..
thats my take on it

he didnt die....in the last scene, they flash characters which resemble past people in his life that he got in some kind of beef with which would give them reasons to kill him...those two black dudes etc...it just shows that life goes on, but for him, it drags on as a shoulder checking life...with each person he encounters as being a potential death. so he didnt really die, but his life is basically now based on trying not to die instead of living. The final scene mixed in what the entire show was really about...family, and Tony knowing the whole time that this is what his life would turn out to be but still going that direction

theres no such thing as a self proclaimed gangster/baller...lol....i think i'm gangsta when i drive with my hat tipped sideways, rocking the pink earring, listening to loud rap music, but i must look like an absolute facking clown...lol....you just haven't realized it yet...

Maybe the hit man came in right before Meadow and that was who Tony saw.
There are a lot of theories floating around, some really good and some really bad. One of the good ones is the one Bruce mentioned about us getting whacked and another is the diner scene put us in Tony's place seeing how he has to check out every person that comes around.
Hopefully he's dead, he wasn't a good boss to begin with.
I was very happy to see Phil go and in such a good way
