do they happen when you go to certain sites? or any time?

here are the steps I use:
1. use Firefox
2.Lavasoft Ad-aware SE (its free) for getting rid of spyware

Or do a search on google for spybot and it will bring up sites for free downloads to get rid of any spyware that may be on your pc

Most of those are actually started by a trojan that opens a backdoor in your computer, I recommend a anti-virus as well a spyware software. If you do not remove the trojan, you may get rid of the pop-ups for a day or two, but they will come back.

Use any freeware anti virus remover, Ad-Aware and Mozilla. Most the time your problems will go away.

Use both of these, do not install any auto-protection features

http://www.lavasoftusa.com

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/

make sure to have them fully updated and do customized scanning, scan everything.

Use one at a time, and don't use your PC while a scan is running.

things to use and not use.
1. screw ad-aware. ESPECIALLY the freeware.
2. microsoft anti-spyware/GIANT anti-spyware.
3. servce pack 2.
4. spy sweeper.

i can give you a version of spyware if you want. pm me. and it's legit. none of this pirated nonsense.

stop going on porno sites! haha jk, i personally use 3 different types of scanners because some don't pick up certain spyware while some do. i use ad-aware, spybot, and hijackthis to delete any unwanted spywares or stuff the other 2 programs can't remove.

i use micosoft's free pop up stopper, service pack 2 and norton. works great stops most stuff. Becarefull with the free programs, alot of them are spyware, trackers themselves. Ad aware was good but i always woundered why i had so many pop-ups while i was using there software but it did its job.
go to Downloads.com do a search look around, there is also a rating system there for people by users.

grab the name of the trojan go to symantec's website, and go into the search field. it will give you details about what the trojan is and does. plus removal instructions.
