Stan Tookie Williams
If you do not know Stan Tookie Williams is set to be executed tonight at 12:01 which I believe in EST is 3:01 AM. If you do not know who he is, he is the founder of the infamous Crip gang.
He was convicted of killing 4 people back in 1979.
Some facts
-3 or 4 people (cant remember at moment) at that trial took pleas to do 0 jail time to say that Tookie Williams did the crime. This never came out until a few days ago.
-3 jurors who were black were taken off the juors pannel from reasoning that they were simply black.
-quite a few racist remarks were made during trial.
-Appeals have been denied to overturn the decision.
-Since his conviction Stan has claimed his innocence from these crimes but has said he has commited crimes that he regrets.
-Also he has been nominated for many high prestige awards for books and other things he has done for anti gang behavour.
-At this point the governor... who happens to be Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, and it doesnt look like anything that will happen.

i think he deserves to feel the burning sensation of lethal injection just for that

well.. i say R.I.P. because since these times he has been nominated for many prestigious awards and has changed fully...He is very anti gang... thats why I say R.I.P. and he did not even get a fair trail...
But on the other hand he did start the crip gang and did comit crime..and should be punished.. and in some peoples opinon has been...

probably not, it was a vigilanty group created to try to clean up the area in which tookie williams lives in...
it turned into something else, most likely because of more than one person, his intentions were good, but his plan went wrong

and the fact that he was in jail, made sure he wasent a harm to any other human being.
hes wrote books and has done a lot for the anti gang movement in the U.S and around the world, publishing books, and recording speeched ALL IN JAIL
what have you done for humanity lately?
just because he made mistakes in his past does not make him a gangster now, he could be more civil than me or you.
you labeling him as a gangster and saying "f-him" shows your ignorance in judging human beings...and then again who are we to judge.

well too bad he's on death row... thats the law of the land there.. i wish we had death row in ontario for rapists, murderers and child molesters

i think we have no right to take human life, but we can make every effort to make their life as sh!tty as possible when they are in "correctional facilities" i dont really see the need for inmates to earn degrees or to watch tv, or to have any sort of leisurely entertainment, thats just wasting our tax money

a few things to look at though...
How would you feel if you were related to or a friend of one of the victims.. then you would definately want the death peanlty.
But on the other hand he never recieved a fair trail.. also many (including some of victims family) say he has paid his debt to society..Also he was convicted based on circumstantal evidence and could never be placed at scene of the crime...
hmmm.. charles manson is sitting in a cell with no chance for execution.. and he is just sitting there while stan tookie williams is doing more from his cell than most do out of the cell... and he is going to be executed...

i don't think tookie should be executed in the near future.
i think he should have been executed in 1979.
tax dollars go to waste housing and attempting at reforming people far too much. i don't know anything about the case, but certain types of criminals shouldn't have second chances unless a third party is willing to pay for all expenses. I mean even court time.. in full.

a few things... He never could be put at the scene of the crime where any of the 4 people were killed.. he never recieved a fair trial either...
And the day of his execution 3 people come out and say that they recieved plea bargins (They did no time) to say that Stan Tookie Williams did it...
now that being said he did do other crimes and did start (co founded) the crip gang.. but since he has been in jail.. he was the largest leader of the anti-gang movement and was nominated for many prestigious awards...
I agree that people should be executed right away and not waste time/money of ours.. but in this case.. He was doing more good than harm.. and it was for years.. not just close to execution time...He wasnt asking to be released he was asking to be kept alive to keep doing good..
And yes the sun did come up this morning but then again when you die it will to...
