stereo system stolen
Hey guys. I just got a brand new stereo system; around 1500 dollars for everything. It hasn't even been two days, and I come to see, everything is missing. Apparantly, the ******* got through the alarm, and cut the wires or something. Now my question is..I bought this whole system from futureshop, and I bought it on my MBNA mastercard. They are supposed to have 30 days theft warranty. I have been with them for over one year now, and never have I made a late payment, or made any claims. If I decide to make a claim through them, any idea what the process is? Will I have to file a police report? What will the police check? etc. etc.?
thanks

Sorry to hear that! That is really weird though....cause my ex. boyfriend bought a $2000 system from future shop...and two nights later it was completley stolen, and they cut through his alarm to! And I've heard 3 other of the exact same stories aswell!!! I think there's something fishey going on!!!
My Ex. called the police in the morning and they just did a report, then he paid $500 and went through insurance. But it was good that he went through insurance cause they ended up giving him $3500 instead of the $2000 for other little things that had been scratched or marked. So his car looked a lot better when it was all finished. And he had a little bit left over, so he went to Cuba. lol
I hope it all works out for you.

On the phone. You just call in and say your system was stolen and then they transfer you to someone else. Then you tell them exactley what happened, sometimes if they think it is worth it they send an officer over, and other times they say that they will keep it on file and if they catch anyone, they will call you and you can go see if it's your stuff.

Yeah it's very common for **** to happen like that. Some employees will take down your plate and also when purchasing anything from them, your info is stored in the system. The fact that they know how your **** is hooked up makes it very easy for them. **** those places.

Try going threw your insurance, my friend wen't threw the same process last year and got $2500 cash for his $1500 stereo system. But it may depend on the insurance company knowing about the system, if they don't then it will be hard to prove unless you've got receipts but if it was covered then they should pay for everything without a problem. It sounds a bit fishy to me also, it had to have been and ******* from the store.

Sounds like an inside job to me too. Sorry about your loss.
Hopefully insurance will do what they're suppossed to do, and handle business.
But my question is, do you have to let the insurance company know in advance how much equipment you have, or can you just goto them with receipts and make a claim? I read an article a while back and it said that some companies will only insure you upto 1200$(for stereo equip.) is this true?

that's what i heard too..
anything beyond that you have to buy "extra insurance" up front, they just add it to your policy..
wondering tho..since they depreciate stuff at about 15-20% per year, does that mean you pay less every year after?? or will it always be $5000 if that's what yer insured for??
sounds like it should be to me..

Damn you people are scaring me!
I'm glad I just bought my deck there and installed it myself! Then again all I have are 4 speakers and a CD player.
And to think they wanted $40 to install the deck!
Sorry about your loss though man.
My friends' had his system swipped twice in 8 months. Each time he upgrades and gets a new system. I think he only paid his deductable both times. His insurance didnt go up though (I believe)

I wouldn't doubt that future shop and any other shops that sell and install stereo stuff, use your info to steal it back. When I bought a few things @ future shop awhile back, the salesperson tried to subtlely ask " oh, you live on that street, wheres that around?" As if he was trying to make conversation. Now, in my head I'm thinking " go down the street and make a left on screw you avenue" what I said was "not too far off the QEW."
So anyone know if you have to declare your equipment?
