i agree with the guy who said the college teachers are striking under the guise of helping students. they are just ****ing money hungry. they so go out and do something else if the excessive wages they are already being paid arent enough for them. in my opinion, they are overpaid for the work they do in colleges.

^^^ Yup, and those wages are not helping the sky rocketing price of tuition. Its like beer, the product itself does not cost much to make, but when you start paying union labour it makes the price jump quite a bit.
$94,000 for higher end teachers to teach 9 months, ****ing hell. thats like $10,000 a month, thats ridiculous. So with 3% raises every year, expect tuition to rise 4-5% every year.

i have a porfolio review coming up on the 29th.. so this week gives me time to work on my portfolio work aswell as catch up and get ahead on some current work... so a week would be perfect.. 2 would be better...
soem are pissed cause the time they miss now will be added on to the end.. for my course it can't happen cause it ends with interships... and all interships are to start directly after the current set date.. so they can't do much... everyone in my course is loving it..
the extra time is good for us.. i can definilty see how some would hate the strike..... but im not them.. so im good.. lol

the guise of helping students by lower class sizes will increase Student's tuition. because if I have a school with 1 class of 50 people in it. if I cut the class size down to 25 I'll have to have 2 teachers thart doubles my operating costs (if wages were the only operating cost.) what they are trying to do is get more unionized teacher positions opened up by reducing class sizes... of course reducing class sizes won't help the student it's been proven that students don't react to changes in class size till the size of the class gets really lower I think when I read this the number given was less then 12 people in the class before noticed improvements were found in the students. of course a teacher with 12 students will have very little prep work to do ...

I dunno where some of you guys get you figures but most College Professors don't get anywhere near 90K! That is just a ridiculously over inflated salary. Try talking to your professor and you'll know what I mean. University Professors maybe. I think you guys are right about using the "Benefiting the Students" line to benefit themselves. The reason they want smaller classes is probably so its less marking and stuff for them. Also You can't compare the class sizes of University to College. Universities have T.A's that help with marking, and discussion groups. Majority of College professors don't have this kind of help and most work within the industry as well as teach. Professors aren't rich, going to Seneca I realized this quite easily just by looking at the cars these people drive haha. People always say how teachers/professors only work 6-9 months.... but fail to leave out the extra unpaid time marking, after class help, lesson plans, and test preparation.
