its soo lame, I go to UOIT which shares campus with Durham college, and the college teachers are picketing all the parking enterances. The usual wait to get into the school is around 20 min, I heard it peaked on thursday and friday with waits to get in around 45 min. Ridiculous, I have nothing to do with this stupid strike and thier wasting my time. Any support that I had for thier cause (it was small), has completely gone out the window, infact I hope the government legislates them back to work with a pay cut now.

I still don't even get the reason thier striking, they say its not the money, rather class sizes?, isn't that not thier concern but rather each individual college. So, assuming college A had classes of 25 people and college B had classes of 30 people, if a teacher cared that much, couldn't they say "i'm gonna go teach at college A because its better"....

oh well, Union mentality <*

this is what i found out from the opseu website

"Negotiations continue under a news blackout requested by the mediator. This is a normal procedure during bargaining. It means that neither side can discuss publicly what may or may not be happening in talks. This is usually done so bargainers can avoid distractions"

they're probably getting close to an agreement.

They did that everywhere when Ontario Government employees went on strike. I was working in the Xerox Tower (Yonge and Finch) It took approximately 2-3 hours to get in the parking garage of that building, and its not like any of us were crossing the picket lines 80% of the tenants in the Tower were non-government, private businesses.

Check out the picket line violence on the news. Some guy is in critical condition in the hospital. Something about being pulled out of his car or something. Looks pretty brutal at some schools. Makes me appreciate getting up for work early now.
