It would make sense for Telus to make such a bold move, since Rogers is being very aggressive with acquisitions and is taking full advantage of new cell/home number revised legislation.
actually Telus in the west is like Bell in the east.
Bell and Telus in their respective territories are called ILECs (incommbant Local exchange carrier) and basically face tons of regulations.

actually when it was anounced on the street 2 nights ago, yesterdays trade saw a drop in Telus stock due to so of it's bonds being down graded. Bell's stock saw a rise of 1 dollar.

the bond market's yeild for both company's bonds went in a positive direction

Ever since the start of talking about a merger begain the stalks surpassed 60 dollars. Last time they were in the 60's for this amount of time was almost 10-11 months ago.

talks of a merger were only made public Tuesday after trading .. look at how Telus has performed over Wednesday and today .. the stock is down.

I've known this for about a month. Only on Tuesday telus went official but stalk holders and such already knew.

I meant in terms of geographic coverage. Telus is almost monopolistic in the west.

you are thinking of wireless only ...

Telus in the West is like Bellin the East .. both are large Dominate landline Carriers ...

there is more to all the companies then just cellular coverage ... currently I believe Rogers has the largeest Wireless customer base followed by Telus and then Bell.

but if you look at how the companies are regulated by the CRTC Telus and Bell are both ILECs in their respective areas and have the largest wireline base...

I wasn't thinking just wireless, I've been to BC and seen Telus' dominance in the market not just for wireless but for landline, internet and even cable tv, similar to Roger's East end dominance in the aforementioned categories.

Telus withdraws

So much for that. BCE shares decline 3.4%
