I heard it is not allowed on the highway. It has so little power I think 3 lugs are more than enough. The front hood is carbon material, you can go to the dealer and get a different colour if you like.

3 cylinder turbo diesel I believe.

The smart cars are incredibly safe.

Their crash cage and geometry makes the cars amazingly resiliant.

They are highway legal and have a maximum speed of 120 km/h

3.5 L/100 kms city driving kicks ***

0-100 km/h acceleration time of 19.8 seconds =

Head on test crash between a smart car and Mercedes S Class

smart car after crash - cockpit fully intact

The Smart's safety cell is built by Magna. With precious little crush space up front, the crash forces are transmitted into the centre structure. It works, according to standard European crash test simulations.

I saw one, and I'd rock it... but odds are I'll rock a Fit/Jazz before I'd rock one of these.

Magna, they had a lawsuit on the Ford F150 passenger door opening during a driverside crash.

Magna just builds them according to the car makers specs. If Ford specs out a busted-*** design, it's not up to Magna to make it right. Besides, we don't know where the failure occured, whether it was at the latch or if the door just fell off the hinges

its all an illusion, I think its BS. those things are not safe, so what if the car didnt crumple around you like a tin can? that is not what kills you. If the car cannot crumple to absob the impact, your body is going to go through HUGE forces that will snap your bones like toothpics and make your brain explode agained the front of your skull when it hits it at 100 kmh. Look at the pictures again, notice how the smart car looks like its moving back? the bigger benz pushed that tiny ***** out of the way, you would totally be dead...I dont care what people say....not safe at all.

Not safe?

It passes Safety Canada standards for legal use on roads/highways here in Canada.

Saying you'll be 100% not injured out of any accident is just plain nonsense. By viewing the pictures of the crashes here on TCC and other sources the SMART car with head-on the passenger compartment doesn't seem to be damaged.

Doesn't really matter if it's a SMART, CIVIC, or any other model. If your 'crumble zone' fail so some reason you're still screwed

Take your civic against the Benz.? What do you think will happen?
