that i understand but they put sensors in the ground 500ft before the light??? i dunt think they would. im pretty positive some intersections are light sensitive

Technically, they are not sensors.

There is an electromagnetic circuit in the ground. Since your car is made out of iron, you will produce more current in which yields you advance green. This is called induction, and can be similarly found in electric toothbrushes.

The misconception that many people have, is that they assume the advance green signal senses weight. A motocycle has less iron, hence less likely to trigger advance green.

There are sensors in the ground go to a mainstreet/side street intersection on the side streets you will see large slabs of asphalt outlined with tar lines running around it in a rectangle ... it's where a sensor is located to pick up the presence of a car. no use in interuppting main street traffic if there is nothing ont he side street correct

yea i have only found the flashing hibeems works at this 1 old *** intersection no others but it def works the seckond i flash every time even if there is some car infront of me or not it changes

yea i understood about the sensors in the ground i ride a motorcycle 2 but sometimes thay dont detect u so many a time i have sat there 3 mins+ then got off and run over 2 the pole and push the walk button just so i dont get cuaght going through a red light

and if u sit 3 cars back from the advanced green that works sometimes u get the advance even tho there is only 1 car

i can gaurentee that that illegal, they wont let you have flashing lights on your car let alone a light that changes traffic lights. im pretty sure they use those strobes on ambulances and stuff. I also heard a rumour that if its late at night and ur coming up to a red light, if you flash ur highbeams real quick it will turn the light. ive never tried it. sounds interesing though

as for the strobe to change lights, most likely not work up here, the only emergency vechiles that can change the lights are Firetrucks. my buddy use to work for a company who assembled the stop lights, and confirmed with me that only fire trucks have a set strobe to chage the lights.. and plus i m not the strobe on a firetruck sits alot higher then the 1 would put in your car, and the sensor in the light might not pick it up correctly

ebay has light changers... it just adds more iron to your bike so you can induce more current.

strobe headlights are illegal under HTA

this device although not mentioned in HTA would likely be covered under other provincial law since the mhz level is on a certain RF band. commercial gets one, military gets one...if this RF freq crosses over, it'd be illegal.

not to mention if it did change the lights and caused an accident, you'd be on the hook as well civily...meaning you'd get your *** sued off royally if they could prove it was you (most likely was you - civil, not beyond reasonable doubt - criminal)

not worth the risks, plus it has zero benefit to you.

not sure i'd believe these rumours of flashing lights to change red light. Emergency vehicles must stop at red lights before proceeding anyways, and if the sensor could see their lights...they are already at the intersection, whats the point of changing it?

it would be kind of cool if it worked and say you're in a rushed situation..but other than that you're just going to cause accidents.

They dont use this technology anymore though, the firetrucks/police cars/ambulances use a transponder (like someone already said)...dont waste your money!

I've noticed that the sensors on top of the lights are pointed in a direction so that it can catch the signal from the truck FARR down the road. It's really easy to see at intersections where there is a hill and a curve, because the sensor is pointed up the hill rather than at somewhere closer to the intersection.

that said, i've been driving all day every day for months, seen many emergency vehicles go through red lights, and there has been no change. perhaps it's something they have to manually trigger under SOME circumstances. i honestly have not yet seen one case where the emergency vehicle seemed to actually change the lights.
