newtons first law - Every object in a state of uniform motion tends to remain in that state of motion unless an external force is applied to it.
ie. an object in motion will stay in motion unless something stops you, in most cases friction from the air particles friction from the tires on the road or most of the time friction from the brake pads.
but in the flys case the windshiled would be be the the external force.
And the fly would be flying 230km relative the the ground (as pilots refer to as ground speed) but his air speed would be un knowen cuz hes zooming around so quickly...
Think of it this way, you are an airplane cruzing at 100kts indicated airspeed, but you have a 30kt tail wind. The combination of the pocket of air and the speed of which you are traveling through the air would equal 130kts ( GROUND SPEED)
Since a cars speedometer measures the speed of which you are traveling over the ground, it has already done this calculation for you meaning the fly is flying at 230km/hr

if you are in your civic HB with a h22 inside it and your flying down the highway at 230km/h (407) and there is a fly in your car flying.
Is that fly, flying at 230km/h???

2. yes it'll slam into the windshield (or atleast it should)

NOOOOOOOOOO the fly will not hit the windshield as it is held in by its own gravity!
i tired the trick with the school bus and jumping up!

Experiment with this,
Catch a fly and freeze it, then leave it on the rear deck of your car, so that when you accelerate you won't lose it in your car. When it thaws out it'll wake up start flying around, by that time you should be going fast enuugh to decelerate and see if it hits the windshield.
Cyrogenics and physics at its best.
I believe itll hit the windshield though, uniform motion into deceleration, something tells me it will.
