Thinking of moving

Hey guys......been a while since I've posted in Chit-chat, but I need some advice/feedback.
I'm currently living at home  and realy want to get out. I have tons of debt though, not to mention the money I spend on my car. I figured it out that if I stopped modding my car I could most likely afford to live on my own, but things would be REALLY tight. It's gonna take me several years still to pay off my debt so.....it's always gonna be there. I guess my question is what would you do?
1. Give up on modding the car and live life with not much cash in hand but in your own place.
or
2. Stay at home, continue to mod car, and still have a few bucks extra to go out once in a while.

I'm kinda leaning more to the first option, but who knows...too soon to know for sure. Or is there another option out there?

honestly stay at home, stop modding car, and SAVE... put extra on your bills and put some aside for moving out. Your car is already sick enough!!!!

Its so hard once your out to pay bills and keep up with things, and god forbid an emergency happens and you need cash lol...

I say stay home save money, atleast for a few months rent

Stay at home, and save up money for a house/place as long as you can!

Stay at home. Make a plan/budget, get your debt paid off, then look at getting out on your own. Modding your car is a hobby that you can take your time on, but again, cars are not investments. Trust me, you will look back and say "thank god I stayed home and paid off my debt"

You don't want to be living from paycheque to paycheque.

Also, don't stay there forever or you will find yourself caught on that new reality show getting your *** kicked out by your parents!!!

haha.

everyone is saying the same thing. i would be inclined to agree.

stop modding your car, and put that money into your debts and go out from time to time.

unless you get beat or something, that's different. if you want to move out to avoid mowing the lawn and your mom's incessant nagging, I personally don't think it's worth it. I broke my parents' spirits a long time ago. Some aspects of my life they have given up on, but they can't really say much cause I work in a responsible and decent industry and I don't have any drug addictions, temper control issues or anything like that.

you'll be surprised how much parents will shut up if you prove to them you're not a total idiot when you need to be serious.

take care of your **** before moving out... and you'll be glad you did.

stop modding your car/don't waste money at bars and entertainment that much, and stay at home for as long as you can until you have enough money saved that you can live in your own place with a couple of extra bucks in your pocket. Because you never know when you might need some extra cash. ie, car crash or something of that nature

I hate to admit it, but I'm 24 and still stuck in this predicament. I may stay at home for like one more long sad year. Put all my money to debt. Then when I'm nice and grouchy from a year of not doing anything I'll move out with a minimal debt load.
MAYBE! UGH! I hate thinking! It hurts! LOL

Agreed. You can put aside money for debt and other things and the rest for entertainment. Just got to be smart about it.

You have to go out and have fun, can't be all about saving and debt. Not to mention, you need a break from the family every so often.

i put all my debts into a sinle line of credit... i have a little more than 1/2 my pay cheque go into it automatically (automated online banking).... i used to have 2/3 of my pay go towards my debt.. but it wasn't enough to live the lifestyle I wanted.. so now I got half going into my line of credit... i still go out clubbing and to bars.. and i usually leave Toronto at least every other weekend.. i have a limited amount of money to spend on stuff... but my payments get made.. and not the minimum amount.

since i don't save any money.. i take money out of my line of credit for 2 vacations a year and annual car insurance (i pay it at once and save money that way.)

i used to want to move out pretty badly... i just like travelling and whatnot.. but i took a good look at the money involved.. and at my friends who make about as much as i do and live on their own...

no need for that ****.

haha... i'm 23.. finishing my final year of university... i still live home with parents.. makes my life much easier and more flexible... good thing is i don't hold too much debt, just a couple hundred of visa bills and owe my mechanic a coupe hundred, but shouldn't be bad... often just work over the summer... i'm not into some big modding scene as i know someday sooner or later, i'll look back and feel stupid... i rather put my money in a bank and do some investments (not too much return, but atleast it doesn't depreciated like cars)... i rather live home, save wisely until i graduate and get a decent/stable job, that's when i'll move out... invest in my own condo... nevertheless, i have a gf to feed... so i'm not in a position to move out... i just sleepsover once in awhile... life ain't so bad like that... just save up buddy... you've got a nice car already, and you've got a house to live in... you'll regret it once you move out before you have a relative stable life... like you got some decent savings/investments, you got a very stable/longterm/decent job... hope this helps

C: end life immediately...

Just joking...your best bet is to stop modding and get rid of your debts and then when your debt free and have money saved go ahead and move out..ONLY when your financially free/stable.

well, it's not like I said to fully cut it out. I should of explained myself a bit better. What I meant to say was TRY to cut back just a little bit there. For ex. if you are always eatting out in expensive restaurants or also going to the movies, maybe you should make a plan on how much money you can afford to spend a week on eatting out or going to a bar.

Gee Thanks, but I already figured that one out....just too late.
Have I mentioned how proud of you I am? I'm sure I did in another thread somwhere....I can't remember what it was for though.
Anyways, I know it's all about managing money. Unfortunately my debt resides from a fouled up relationship about 2 years ago. Not that I'm trying to pin the blame, I had a hand in it too...but I got suckerred by her. We were together for 4 years and I ended up getting screwed money wise.
(I got the last laugh when I "met up" with her best friend )
But I'm STILL payin.

I know...I'm an ***.....but hey.....to tell the truth I love the girl to death so it wasn't out of spite...it just happenned to work out that way LOL

Anyways...I think the vwerdict is to stop modding car, live at home one more year, and sink everythign I've got into debt. Maybe go out twice a month (not including meets.....still going to attend all of them.).

girls are expensive is a myth, at least with mine

what kind of debts do you have (in case I missed if your posted)

also what kind mods are you doing to your car that your spending a big chunk of change on?

My advice, do what Charles does. He has a plan each year what he wants to do to his car, and how much money he sets aside. He buys the stuff, and if he wants more but doesn't have anymore $$, then he simply waits, you need more control thats all.

If I bought everything I saw that I liked for my car, for sure I would be in major debt, but I have alot of control, and I really think things over before I buy.
