anybody with tight curly hair are more prone to ingrown hair (black people) I dont shave often because...

1. its inconvinient
2. blades arent cheap
3. anything more than once every 4 days irritates my skin

aftershave is ket, sh*t quattro are garbage, I cant even give away the ones I got for free.

Now that I got that off my chest, I use Mach 3 turbo and Nivea shaving gel. Best shaving cream imo and I actually got that recommended from someone on this board a couple of years ago. I will have to look up the thread one day.

I shave every other day or every two days, just to give my face a break. I have gillette aftershave. Best thing to do regardless of what you use is aftershave.
I have been using the same thing as Brian for almost 2.5 years now. Works best for me, and I shave every 3 days or so. I have thin facial hair.

I had one and it felt like it was pulling the hair and not cutting it.

I don't use any aftershave, dries out my skin too much.

????

How does it dry out your skin? What kind of aftershave are you using?

Last time I used it was way back when, was my dads and I think it was old spice or something. Dried it out and made my face look blotchy.

You need to use some type of after shave balm instead. Its more like a cream, and won't dry your skin, but if you want to keep your face fresh and not get bad skin conditions after shaving, you NEED to use some type of aftershave.

cold water, not hot

Schick Extreme 3 is what I use.

My face looks like I used a lawn-mower unless I use really cold water to shave.

For the longest time I couldn't understand why my face was always so blotchy after. If this happens to you, I suggest cold water, not hot.

Cold water? If that is the case, its not the hot water that is your problem, its either your blades or the way you are shaving. Hot water is used to open your pores thats it. Probably should look at putting something on your face after you shave as well. Are you rinsing the blade with Hot water as well?

I suppose I should be more specific....I rinse the blade with cold water and wash my face with it.

Maybe it is just my skin. Maybe cold water makes the hair stand up more.

I just know that my face doesn't get cut up as much with really cold water.

i don't use anything before or after i shave my face and head.. it's for suckers... i shave in the shower... hot water.. steam.. opens up the pours.... when i'm done shaving, i rinse off my head, face, and sometimes nether regions with cold water to close up the pours.

i have no problems.

I hate stupid ingrown hairs. I discovered the key is to constantly shave it literally every day to keep them away.

I hear ya, but for me, that would irritate my skin too much, so I do it every other day or a couple of days, but not too long after. I find using the balm or after shave helps some, if I remember, but since I have been using the Nivea gel, I have had less problems.

My brother use to use this cream years ago for black men, it was like those hair removal products. Get something to remove it with and clean it off instead of shaving. Never had problems with it, just don't leave that stuff on too long!
