gatherer...

the history of my nick name and how it came to be is long winded but I'll take time out of my busy postwhoreing schedule to explain where it came from...

to start with there was once a BBS called the National Capital freenet (NCF) I was user BD104 (assigned to me) on that board. I don't knwo if it still exsists or not I have not been there in years. well they had an internal IRC server you could only get to it if you signed up to the board and telneted it. I was 9 when I got this account. Well back then I was extremely good at extracting information from computers and I would get information or data for people on the board, on the IRC server there I used the nickname BD104. Now like the CB radio system you only get a different user name (or handle) when someone decides what you are and gives you one. I recieved my first had of InfoMan this came from information and Man to create that title because thats what I did I got information... well a year went by and some people (older then I was) assumed it was Info for Infomaniac (I was still 10 and sex was something married people did) and they thought I would go for cyber sex. I hated explaining to people how the handle came about. well a few more years went by like that and a person studying early homo sapeins said I was like the information age equal to the early gatherers from hunter gatherer tribes, since I gathered information. well the name was then given to me as gatherer on April 13th, 1994 (a few weeks before my 14th b day) and the nick name has stunk ever since then and I have liked it. that old board might have disappeared and the old group of friends with it, long ago but I still carry that name. As a side note I left the board in july 1994 and in 2001 an old friend had found me from the board... I became her date to her senior prom. (and no it wasn't a cyber relationship we were friends and she was waiting for a guy to ask her and no one did so I did)

anyways that explains my nick name and thats basically why I want to do a permenant name change to gatherer I like it alot brings back old memories.

Cool story man!! Nice of you to take your friend to the prom. I didn't bother going to mine, but I ended up going to the one a year later for my school, and it was just like I imagined it... pure waste of my time LOL but I did it as a favour. Never regretted not going to my prom... didn't make my university graduation either I don't think... I don't remember it, so must not have gone

she lives in baltimore ... and the bus ride down is 24 hours straight with a stop in newyork city ...ewww... and I got no sleep that weekend...

I saw 5 states in one day .....

I've only seen 5 states in my whole life..hehehe

ohh well it was fun I met another Canadian there (a teacher) and we had fun with the stories of canada... you know it snows all the time I live in a igloo and I have 12 dogs and a dog sled and I eat polar bears for breakfast... it was great ... they all (except her) believed me I was cracking up...

anyways lets here where others get there names from

worst part is I was 19 and had just started trying beer here (I've since given it up) and the age there is 21 .... I asked the canadian teaher where the "blue" was...hehehe

But don't ya think changing your name to "Gatherer" is a little too "Star Trek?"

Sometimes certain world were not meant to intersect

I have taken some flak about my nickname.

JSK: I haven't been out to any autocross stuff in a bit, I suck and their's not much done suspension wise to my Civic. As you and others know I'm selling the car so it's not seeing any more mods. If I can get my new car to handle then I'll be out to a few autocrosses.

I might as well post up what my name means.

Well it all started in 1998 when I first got the internet and I wanted to get myself one of those new fangled yahoo email accounts (8mb of free space back then, with no banners), so I started typing in what I wanted as my username I think it was grego_12 (Cause I was 12 at the time) unfortunately that was already taken, so yahoo, as they always do, gives me four choices, one of them was grego9198 (1998 rearranged), I figured I'd eventually change my email address again, so I just chose that one. Well it turns out I never switched that account, and to save myself confusion from all the different boards and email accounts I use, I stick with grego9198.

Yep thats it
