he would show up, look at the car, offer all of it, cash, right there and then.
most people tell him to **** off.
but there is always someone out there who is desperate to pay off gambling debts or buy drugs...

a tire kicker has no intent to buy.. the term is derived from a method of testing wheel bearings back in the day. you would kick the tire, and see if it had "play"...

I think the definition of "tire-kicker" can include more than just sales of automobiles. I would include other items one may choose to sell. If someone calls you or shows up at your house to examine an item you are selling and plainly has no intent or money to purchase it, that is a "tire-kicker".
My observation is that the same person who is a "tire-kicker" is most often a "bull-sh!tter" as well.
It also seems that "tire-kicking bull-sh!tters" have nothing better to do with there time. They often need hobbies (something to occupy their time) or jobs or both.
If you are ever doing business in Hamilton, Ontario's East-end you will likely encounter "tire-kicking bull-sh!tters" amongst other problems such as crack and spousal abuse.

tire kicker 102 up, 9 down
Someone who is indecisive about purchasing a product or service, and never feels satisfied with what they are offered. In the end a tire kicker may or may not buy. The term comes from sales people at car dealerships. Tire kickers would come around frequently, kick the tires a few times on the cars that they liked, but never make a solid purchasing decision on any particular car or trim.
That tire kicker has come here every day for the last month, don't waste any time on him.
